The Hamlin Fire Department, with the support of community members, has launched a fundraising campaign to purchase a new rescue boat that will be donated to the Hamlin Morton Walker Fire District. The campaign aims to raise $30,000 to enhance the district's ability to respond to emergencies along its 14 miles of Lake Ontario shoreline.
The district's response area includes a New York State Park and serves thousands of residents and visitors each year. A dedicated rescue boat will significantly improve emergency response capabilities for water-related incidents, including search and rescue operations, distressed boaters, swimmers in need of assistance, and other shoreline emergencies.
The proposed vessel is a Zodiac MK3, a 15.5-foot inflatable rescue boat constructed from durable neoprene with a rigid aluminum floor. It will be powered by a 40-horsepower motor, providing responders with a reliable and versatile platform for emergency operations on the water.
The addition of this rescue boat will allow our firefighters to respond more quickly, safely, and effectively to emergencies on Lake Ontario. This investment will strengthen our ability to protect both residents and the many visitors who enjoy our shoreline throughout the year.
