Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen’s third project of 2026 takes place at the popular Larry Creek Trail System on Saturday, June 6, National Trails Day. Project volunteers will clean water bars and perform annual maintenance that includes removing trees and debris from trails and cutting back overhanging limbs and foliage. Project leader is Mary Odell, assisted by Brad Pollman. Lunch will be provided by Nancy and Brad Pollman. Members of the public should be aware that volunteers will be working on foot and on horseback throughout the trail system. Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen Celebrate 50 Years of Service!
On Thursday, March 19, 2026, we will celebrate our 50th anniversary! Join us for an evening dedicated to honoring our founding members and celebrating our mission to ensure that public lands remain open for recreational equine use, as we look back on our journey from the beginning in March 1976 to the present day. A main course, side dishes and a celebratory cake will be provided. The event will take place at the Daly-Leach Community Room, 1010 Main Street in Hamilton at 6 pm. We welcome guests to join us in celebrating this significant milestone. If attending, please RSVP by March 16 to 928-606-0855.

Horsemanship Safety Clinic Offered
Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen will present a free safety clinic on Saturday, March 14, from 9 am to 2 pm at C-Max Stables, 657 Bass Lane in Corvallis. Topics include Riding Safely in Groups, Body Work for Horses, Effective Rein Handling, Working Safely with a Pack String, and First Aid for Horses and Riders. Come for coffee and donuts at 9:00 am, with classes starting at 9:30. Dress warmly and bring a chair. Horses will be provided for the packing and first aid classes, and a potluck chili lunch is also provided.
