National Trails Day at Lake Como

This Saturday, June 6th, we're making one final push to finish the Big Ditch Trail extension at Lake Como.
After five volunteer trail days and a huge effort from the Bitterroot Hotshots, the finish line is finally in sight. We've got about 0.7 miles of new trail nearly complete, but we still need a few more hands to move rocks, smooth tread, and wrap up the details.
📍 Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake Como fee collection site
🛠 Tools provided
🥤 Drinks provided
🍔 BBQ and beverages at 2:00 p.m. for volunteers
No trail-building experience necessary. If you can move dirt, carry rocks, or swing a tool, you can help.

We’re talking about a FULL shuttle from the base of Lost Trail straight to the trailhead. No complicated logistics. No extra vehicles. Just lap after lap after lap.

Meet: 5:45 p.m. at the fee collection site on the Lake Como road, on the left near the junction with the road going up to the beach area (as highlighted in image below).
Work Plan: We will keep the momentum going and continue working towards completion of the Big Ditch trail.

Bring gloves, sturdy shoes, and water—we’ll provide the tools. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Another productive trail work session. The Bitterroot Hot Shots did an amazing job putting in the reminder of the basic trail tread, along with several other sections of future trail. Great news! This week the Bitterroot Hotshots did two days of work on the Big Ditch trail extension (in conjunction with their training). The crew of 23 made huge progress on completing the trail.

Now we need volunteers to finish the job. We are planning two volunteer work sessions, Thursday evenings this week and next, to smooth and shape the trail dug by the Hotshots and to complete the trail building through some rocky sections. It will be easiest to complete this work while the dirt is still soft.

Trail Digs: THIS Thursday, April 30th and NEXT Thursday, May 7th at 5:45 PM
