Six Troop 33 Scouts recently returned from an incredible week as part of the 2026 Mackinac Island Service Honor Guard with Troop 114.

Led by our own Ben Bosscher as Senior Patrol Leader, the week was filled with service, leadership, new experiences, and plenty of fun. But ask most Honor Guard scouts what they’ll remember most, and it’s the friendships they made.

One of the hardest parts of Honor Guard is leaving. After spending a week working, learning, and laughing together, saying goodbye to friends from across Michigan is never easy. The island has a way of feeling like home, and many of our scouts were already talking about next year before they even boarded the ferry.

We’re proud of the way these young men represented Troop 33 and grateful for the memories they made along the way. Congratulations on a great week!

The adventure is about to begin!

Today, our six Troop 33 Honor Guard scouts gathered in Big Rapids with all of their gear and bicycles, joined by a good friend from Fennville Troop 45, as they prepare for tomorrow’s journey to Mackinac Island. Tonight they’ll get everything organized before an early morning departure to Mackinaw City, where they’ll board the ferry and begin another unforgettable Honor Guard experience.

This year marks Troop 114’s 49th year serving on the island, and we’re especially proud to have six Troop 33 scouts taking part this year.

Best of luck to all of the scouts from across West Michigan. Have an amazing time—we’re so proud of you all!
