LIHEAP helps eligible households with winter heating bills, while the Weatherization Program helps make homes more energy efficient.

One minute we're enjoying those beautiful fall days, and the next we're waking up to snow! ❄️

While that first snowfall sure is pretty, it's also a reminder that colder weather tends to bring a few extra expenses. Heating bills start climbing, and somehow, the grocery bill doesn't get any smaller.

Sometimes it's not one big expense that stretches a family's budget. It's all those little things adding up.

Thanksgiving preparations are officially underway at Haven House! 🧡

We've been checking inventory, making lists, and getting everything ready for this year's Thanksgiving boxes. And there are four things we could use a little extra help collecting!

🥔 Boxed mashed potatoes
🍠 Canned yams
🧡 Jell-O
🍽️ Packets of turkey gravy

If you're heading to the grocery store this week, would you consider picking up an extra item or two for your neighbors?

You don't have to fill an entire box to make a difference. Every contribution (or post share 😉) helps us put Thanksgiving dinner on a friend's table.

Join Dr. Daniel Koltz, Gerontology Specialist with MSU Extension, for an evening focused on understanding memory loss, dementia, and how to continue living a full and meaningful life.

There’s a lot happening this October, and all of it is rooted in support, connection, and community 🍂

Council on Aging is honored to partner with Dementia Friendly Bitterroot to help share this month’s opportunities for learning and support surrounding memory loss and dementia.

From caregiver support groups to educational sessions and community resources, these events are here to help individuals, caregivers, and families feel a little more informed — and a little less alone.

Medicare Open Enrollment is coming up– and even if you’re happy with your current plan, it’s still worth taking a look 🔎

Plans, premiums, provider networks, and prescription coverage can change from year to year. A quick review now could help you avoid surprises, and may even save you money in 2027.

Our SHIP counselors, Janice, Vicki, and Kati, are here to help you compare your options and find a plan that fits your needs.

Bring your Medicare card + current prescription list to your appointment, and please share this with someone who may need a little help navigating Medicare this fall.

Groceries are expensive. Gas is still taking a bite out of the budget. Kids are back in school, which somehow also means more places to be and more miles on the car. And now the weather is starting to cool off. 🙃

We can’t fix grocery prices. We can’t fix gas prices. And we definitely can’t do much about the weather. 🤪

But we can help make sure there’s food on the table and something warm to wear.

If groceries are getting harder to stretch, come see us for your monthly Box and weekly Porch items!

If you’re looking at the colder weather and realizing someone in the family could use a coat, sweater, or a few other warm items, our Clothing Closet is here too!

We may not be able to fix all the expensive stuff life throws at you, but we can help take a couple of things off your list. 💛
