Our first GMRC Senior is letβs learn about Malachi. πππͺπΌπ£π». I have started rowing in 2016 on the Jrow team, and 2019 on the Youth team.
I think that one of my strengths are that a lot of times I'm willing to stay disciplined in trying to reach my goals
I think that the best advice I have ever been given is that you should follow the things in life that truly make you happy, regardless of what you'd gain in choosing something else.
My favorite rowing moment was winning 2nd at Worlds. Everything rushed back to me and I just couldn't believe what was happening, where I was and the journey to that point.
If I were to describe rowing in one word, my word would be freedom. Rowing is my escape to a place where I can be alone with my thoughts when I need it, work together with friends every day, continue to dream, and the thing I look forward to ever day.
The best advice I can give a novice rower is "Pursue rowing to the level of your own passion. If you want to have fun and socialize, there's a place for you in this sport. And if it's more than that to you, act on your desire to be great, learn as much as you can, and discipline your mind to focus on the road ahead."
My favorite food is chicken fried rice... measured in tons
My favorite regatta is probably gonna be Midest Summer Sprints. Racing 7 times in a day just completes me.
I will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering in college
I plan to row in college, but am still in search of the right school
As a rower, with the two people that inspire me most being rowers at well, I'm extremely lucky. When you have someone to interact with every day who is a constant reminder that a person can do anything they set their mind to, it's so motivating. Marc Oria and Chris Bak show me every day that hard work with no regrets, kindness, passion and drive are what it takes to achieve your goals: becoming a member of the Spanish national team, or the US National team; or even winning the title of the World Champion in the Men's solo.
