Below is an update on resilient Mike Jones from his amazing mom, Sonora. Mike is one of the young adults Emily’s Light has been blessed to come to know and support. And if you’re one of the lucky ones to meet or chat with him in person, you are extra blessed!

“One year ago today! Still seems so surreal. Tomorrow Mike is finishing up his third round of radiation. Monday he had surgery on his right eye and then had radiation a few hours later. He is so strong and fighting with everything. I am so proud to be his mom! I couldn’t have asked for a better young man!!!
He is fighting so hard and truly is my hero!!!
Love you buddy!

Thank you to all our supporters! You’ve helped 19 year-old Shawn, diagnosed with DMG in Feb 2024, get to Disney this spring. With prognoses so grim, trips like this one make such a difference in these young people’s lives. Thank you so much!

Thinking of the Sutherland family especially today as they miss Hadyn on his first birthday in heaven. 

I’ll never forget some of the words the pastor spoke at his funeral. He asked Haydn’s brokenhearted biker community how many ever followed behind Haydn on their motorcycles, trying to catch up with him. Many raised their hands. And the pastor said something like “Now is the time to try to really catch him - he wants you to follow him to where he is now, his Home in Heaven, thanks to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Get to know Him.” The whole service and tribute afterwards was a beautiful honor to their son. One I shall not soon forget.

Happy heavenly birthday, dear Haydn! Your family and your beautiful baby girl are carrying on your light and your spirit.

Thinking of Kristina Marie on this milestone birthday with her twin Kimberly Ann, their 40th, with Krissy’s first in heaven.

“A birthday without the person who shared your very first breath is a different kind of ache. 🤍

Today is our 40th birthday. The first one I’m celebrating without my twin sister physically here.

I’ll light a candle for you, laugh a little for you, and carry you with me like I always have.
We were born together, and that bond doesn’t end here. Happy birthday to us. I love you beyond this world.
