At Father Your Hood, we believe leadership begins with how we show up for our families, our children, and our community.
Domestic violence 🛑 is not only a women’s issue. It affects young women and young men, children, families, and entire communities. As fathers, mentors, and community leaders, we have a responsibility to confront the trauma, behaviors, and harmful relationship patterns that too many of our young people have witnessed and inherited.
Our young people are learning from everything around them from their homes and neighborhoods to popular culture, music, and social media. That means we must be intentional about what we model and what we teach.
We must show our sons that strength is not violence, control, or intimidation. We must show our daughters that love should never require them to accept disrespect or abuse. And we must teach all young people that healthy relationships are built on love, respect, accountability, communication, and care.
As my grandmother used to say, “If you gotta hit on them, you don’t need them.”
Father Your Hood is committed to helping break cycles of trauma before they become another generation’s inheritance. Strong families require strong leadership and that leadership starts with us.
We invite fathers, mothers, young people, survivors, mentors, and community members to stand with us. Together, we can heal, lead, and build safer, stronger families and communities.🙏🏾🖤❤️
