As we say goodbye to our 8th grade youth basketball players and wish them well in their future hoops’ journey, we’d like to celebrate some leaders from the group. HWYBB presented the “Bill Burridge 2026 Sportsmanship Award” to a player from each of the five 8th grade boys’ and girls’ teams. This honor is bestowed on a graduating 8th grade player that demonstrates good sportsmanship, team leadership, a dedication to the sport of basketball, and a desire to continually improve their skills. It is voted on by fellow players on the team.
The award ceremony took place at HWRHS during a varsity game. Please join us in congratulating the following players as selected by their peers:
Bernard Bawa
Cooper Fitzgerald
Evelyn Hedblom
Brayson Lougee
Emma Woolwine
HWYBB is very grateful to Bill Burridge for his leadership in building the youth basketball program in Hamilton and Wenham that is now enjoyed by over 400 kids per year. A long-time resident in H-W, Mr. Burridge was instrumental in creating several adult and youth leagues in addition to coaching at various levels in our community. His dedication and passion for bringing the game of basketball to the youth in our community is a legacy to be celebrated. This yearly award in his name reflects our appreciation for his work and helps to reinforce the core values of our organization.
