Great news! 🎉 Today, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals vacated NJDEP’s unlawful water certificate for Williams Transco’s NESE fossil fuel project - a massive victory over the fossil fuel industry and a win for Raritan Bay, local communities, and New Jersey’s environment!

We are glad the court has put the concern of the people over the interest of corporate polluters who are set on making a buck regardless of the risk to our public health and environment. 💧

We are proud to have stood with our partners in challenging the legality of this water quality certificate. We will continue to stay vigilant to ensure Williams Transco stops building this egregiously polluting and now unlawful project.

BIG NEWS: Plug-in solar is officially law in New Jersey! Thank you for signing this historic bill. 🎉

This is a massive win for accessible clean energy and energy affordability across the Garden State. With Governor Sherrill’s signature on the Garden State Balcony Solar Act, plug-in solar is now a reality.

From renters to homeowners, clean energy savings should be accessible to everyone, no matter your zip code or housing situation.

A huge thank you to the legislative champions and advocates who made this possible, especially John F. McKeon and Assemblyman Clinton Calabrese. Today, Jersey officially plugs into a brighter, cleaner future! ⚡☀️

Another win to hold big tech accountable in NJ! 🎉
The End Data Center Tax Credits Act was just signed into law, which eliminates all remaining tax credits for data centers available under the “Next New Jersey Program.”

This law will help to ensure that New Jersey families are not footing the bill for large-load users and that the state is not incentivizing them with sweet tax breaks.

Thank you to the bill’s sponsors, Senator Cyan and Assemblyman Macurdy, the legisure, and Governor Sherrill for taking another step to make data centers accountable in NJ.

This week, our volunteers attended and spoke at an informational meeting with over 100 people regarding a proposed data center at the Bell Works campus in Holmdel.

Thank you to Kin Gee and the citizen action group Better Holmdel for hosting, and to our volunteers Steve and Pat Miller who presented on the energy and cost impacts of data centers in a joint presentation! ⚡️🔋

📢 Stay tuned for more updates on how to engage.

Yesterday, Governor Sherrill signed a bill to increase transparency regarding energy and water usage from data centers!🎉

Thanks to this bill, the BPU now has the authority and the responsibility to ensure that the state and communities understand and have access to the accurate, real-time amounts of energy and water data centers are consuming or proposing to consume. 💧

This is the first step to increasing transparency and providing the critical NJ-specific data that the public deserves and that can inform the decision-making processes at the municipal level for both officials and residents, and we look forward to continuing this progress.

DEADLINE TOMORROW!🚨
Weakening federal truck pollution standards would lock in another generation of dirty diesel trucks on our roads, exposing families near highways and freight hubs to more toxic air and worsening health for decades to come. Help us document our opposition to Trump’s EPA’s attack on clean air.

The comment period ends August 29th! Make your voice heard before it’s too late.

On this anniversary of the National Park Service's birthday, help a New Jersey Girl Scout get her Gold Award by taking a Pledge to Protect! 🌟

Jasmine, a rising senior at Mendham High School in NJ, created Pledge to Protect, an educational initiative that encourages visitors to help preserve our National Parks through responsible outdoor practices.

As part of the project, she developed a website that provides information about National Parks, Leave No Trace principles, and practical tips for being a responsible park visitor. 🌲

Take My Pledge:
Protect & Preserve our Parks - Take My Pledge

Pledge to Protect is dedicated to educating my community on National Parks and their importance. It is vital that steps are taken to ensure our parks' protection. Learn how small actions can make a big difference and help preserve these natural treasures for generations to come.

Happy 110th birthday to the National Park Service! 🎉 For more than a century, the National Park Service has protected extraordinary places and helped people create memories that last a lifetime.

Now, while the parks we love are under immense threat from bulldozers, staffing and funding cuts, and the erasure of history, we're even more grateful for the park rangers, educators, scientists, and other workers who take care of these public lands for all of us.

This week, let's celebrate all they make possible and recommit to solidarity for our parks and the people who steward them: sc.org/SavePublicLands

Did you know that this past July, NJ households had the second highest utility bills in the nation? Right now, we are paying the price for the failure of our grid operator (PJM) to plan for surging electric demand, largely from data centers. ⚡️

FERC, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, has the authority to intervene.

🗞️ Check out this recent op-ed in nj.com by our Chapter Director, Anjuli Ramos-Busot to read more about what FERC can do to hold PJM accountable!

New Jersey families didn't cause rising energy costs, but they're paying for them. FERC has the authority to demand change—it should use it now.
