The NJ YMCA State Alliance hosted its 88th Annual Youth and Government (YAG) Conference in April, bringing together 450 students representing 20 delegations from across New Jersey.

The conference immersed students in a hands-on civic experience, where they assumed roles similar to those found in our local, state, and federal governments to gain a deeper understanding of the political process and responsibilities of public service.

Today, NJ YMCAs are celebrating Juneteenth, a time to honor freedom, celebrate resilience, and embrace the strength of our community.

Juneteenth is the oldest celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery, when the last slaves in Galveston, TX were told the war had ended, and they were free.

NJ YMCAs continue to celebrate freedom, culture, and community on Juneteenth and every day as we honor our histories, stories, and backgrounds to remember the past and inspire the future!
