In 2004 The Rotary of Robbinsville/Hamilton Townships embarked on a $250,000.00 capital-raising program to cover the cost of building the 100% barrier free baseball diamond known as the Miracle Field. The field would allow individuals with disabilities to move freely around the bases and throughout the field regardless of any physical and/or cognitive limitations they may have. These indi
viduals would be part of the Miracle League in New Jersey. A generous donation of land from the Hamilton Area YMCA helped get the project underway thus creating The Miracle League of Mercer County Inc. The Miracle League of mercer County is governed by its board of directors, and run by the Executive Director. The Miracle League, a national organization with local chapters, was founded in 1998 in Conyers Ga. Since then, about 330 are in use or are under construction throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Benefits of Participation
Players – Miracle League athletes get to experience being part of a team, supporting each other and developing positive, encouraging relationships. Their success on the baseball field translates into improved self-esteem and confidence while developing their physical and social skills. Families – The family members of our players can have an opportunity to relax, watch, support and celebrate their children's success on the field while developing lasting friendships with other members of the Miracle League community. Coaches – Volunteer coaches provide support and encouragement to all players and buddies and get to experience first-hand the positive impact that Miracle League has on the lives of all those involved. Buddies (Angels in the Outfield) – Volunteer buddies experience first-hand what it means to give back to the community and experience a true inclusive environment as they support and encourage their players and team. Sponsors and Supporters – The Miracle League relies on the generous support of sponsors and donors to build a positive, inclusive environment that serves children with disabilities as well as everyone in the community. As you can see, the Miracle League is not just about baseball, it's about hundreds of dedicated players, parents, coaches, buddies, volunteers, and sponsors coming together to support, encourage and inspire each other. It's what happens when everyone is included and diversity is embraced. It's a true community. We hope you'll be a part of it.
