Would have been playing in USSSA Eggstravaganza today! Oh well. Let's worry about and look forward to what we DO have control over.....washing hands, not touching face, staying home, remote learning, reading and vocabulary, footwork/glovework drills, tee work, 20 minute workout 3 days a week, pitching, catching, participating in this week's team Zoom, Coach Kiki Baldassarri's motivational session next week. Take care of the NOW so we are ready for the TOMORROW!!!

This weekend would have been Spring tournament #2 as a first year 12U team. Again, we miss the sport and each other more than ever. If we look too far ahead, tomorrow will never come. Stay within our philosophy of "Next". "Next" is the 20 minute workout. "Next" is glove work and footwork drills. "Next" is throwing runners out at second from our knees. "Next" is 1st base footwork drills. "Next" is pitching 2 to 3 days a week. "Next" is balance, timing, extension, being on plane. "Next" is attacking our remote learning, always reading a novel, and submitting your daily vocabulary words to Coach Mike. "Next" is doing all of these things while listening to our community leaders.....social distancing, wash hands, don't touch your face. If we focus on all of these "Next's" we will be ready when tomorrow comes.

Kennedy #6!!!

Well....the 12U Hamilton Hurricanes 2008's would have been kicking off our 2020 Spring season in the Trouble in the Bubble this morning. Sometimes mother nature shows us how small we really are and that softball is #2 to many other things...mainly our health. The 2008 12's hope everyone is safe...stay well! If you or someone you care about is sick, the 2008 12's will keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

To try and remember what our "normal" was, and to remind the girls why they are doing their daily softball exercises and drills we sent them, they dressed in the new game uniforms they would have worn today. They will wear the second and third set of uniforms the next two Saturdays (we would also have been playing)...to also remind them how special it is to be a Hurricane.

Our very important Kennedy Daferede is missing from these pictures. She will be added later today. Can't forget Kennedy!

One more thing.....when I first started coaching someone told me the following..."There is more to life than softball...but there is more to softball than softball." This rings very true today. There IS more to life than softball. But softball isn't just learning the "3 B's"...bunting, batting, and base running. It's the memories and relationships you form along the way. Whether they are short-term or long-term relationships they should always stay meaningful. Remember that today when we are quarantined in our homes. We will be back on the fields soon playing the game we love with the players and teammates we love!
