Recently, the Child Advocacy Center at Delaware Opportunities reached out to local schools about collaborating with art students to create a mural for the CAC Medical Room, with the goal of making it a more welcoming and comforting space for children. After all, who better to design a kid-friendly environment than kids themselves?
Margaretville Central School art teacher Michele Dietz-Maher was excited to embrace the opportunity. She worked with her talented students to create a beautiful mural design, and together they spent three days bringing their vision to life.
We couldn't be happier with the final result. Every aspect of the mural reflects the love, creativity, thoughtfulness, and care that Michele and her students poured into this project. Their artwork has transformed the medical room into a brighter, more inviting space where children can feel a little more comfortable during difficult moments.
A heartfelt thank you to Margaretville Central School, Michele Dietz-Maher, and all of the students whose hard work made this project possible. The kids who made up the mural team are Amorelle Gavette, Aurora Duque, Adelle Suyama, Isaac Romero, Haydee Martinez, LilliAnn VanBenschoten, Avery Fairbairn, Julia Balcom-Salazar, & Chris Mannering.
We are also incredibly grateful to Brookside Hardware and Auto in Margaretville for their generous donation of paint, helping bring this beautiful mural to life. Thank you all for making a lasting difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.
