Today We Honor: Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou used her life experiences to speak boldly about struggle, identity, and resilience — empowering generations along the way.
Through powerful works like I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, she broke barriers by confronting racism, trauma, and silence with honesty and courage, while always emphasizing survival, growth, and hope.
Her legacy as a poet and activist reminds us that our voices matter — and that even in our hardest moments, strength and resilience can rise. 🖤✨

Today We Honor: Marcus Garvey — a visionary leader who championed Black pride, unity, and self-determination.
As the founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), he built one of the largest Black-led movements in history, encouraging people of African descent to embrace self-reliance and global solidarity. Through the Black Star Line and The Negro World newspaper, he promoted economic independence, political awareness, and Pan-Africanism.
His legacy lives on in the red, black, and green flag — a symbol of strength, resilience, and identity.
Garvey’s message still echoes today: know your worth, take pride in who you are, and work together for collective progress. ✊🏾🖤💚❤️

Today We Honor: Harriet Tubman. Harriet Tubman was an abolitionist best known for her role in the Underground Railroad.  Born into slavery in Maryland in March 1822, Tubman escaped in 1849 and returned repeatedly to rescue others, risking her life each time. During the Civil War, she also served as a nurse, scout, and spy for the Union Army. Harriet’s courage and leadership have inspired millions across several generations and made her one of the most important figures in the fight against slavery and racial injustice in the United States.

“I had reasoned this out in my mind; there was one of two things I had a right to, liberty or death; if I could not have one, I would have the other; for no man should take me alive.”
― Harriet Tubman”
