Nice greens, alliums and fava beans growing in the garden. Someone took one of Jim Sirch’s native perennial plant propagation workshops offered through the Free Hamden Seed Library and has their seedling-filled milk jug in their plot. Very nice to see! A reminder that you can still receive free seeds at the Hamden Library until June 6.

Summer is over but there’s still plenty going on in the garden. Remember to save seeds for the Hamden Seed Library. You’re encouraged to get your free garlic soon and your free seeds next year and if you can pay it forward by saving seed for others, that’s great!

If you see this in or around the garden, cut it down. It’s invasive mugwort going to seed. Even if removal is not an option, cutting it down before it spreads seeds is a help.
