What a week!
Last week, we had the privilege of spending time with a terrific group of educators and partners at Bishop Woods School.
This week-long Structured Literacy training marked the beginning of a new partnership between Bishop Woods School, New Haven Public Schools Literacy How, Inc., REED Charitable Foundation, and Boundless Literacy: a three-year shared commitment to collaboration, in-school professional learning, and helping children become confident, capable readers.
We could not be more proud to partner with these incredible educators and organizations in this work. The training team from RCF was amazing, as always, and the Bishop Woods educators brought experience, insight, curiosity, and enthusiasm to every part of the week. Literacy How was at the table as a key partner; their team will help carry this work forward through coaching in the fall.
Together, we focused on the structure of language, explicit literacy instruction, and the instructional practices and routines that help children become skilled readers.
This partnership reflects what is possible when educators, schools, nonprofits, and philanthropic partners come together around a shared commitment to children.
Learning to read changes what is possible for children.
We are proud to be a part of the work begun last week and excited for what lies ahead.
