“Mom, if it wasn’t for Scouts, I wouldn’t have the friends I have now,” Melissa W.’s middle son said, as the duo drove away from a fellow Scout’s birthday party. “Thank you for all the fun things you plan.”
Melissa’s oldest son started seven years ago, with his two younger brothers joining the program after. As the of Pack 159 in Armstrong, Iowa, Melissa has seen the impact of first-hand. Scouting has grown into a family affair – in the best way possible – for Melissa, her husband and their three kiddos. In this picture, Melissa and her family are at the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade!
“I have watched my kids grow and learn and gain so much confidence in this program,” Melissa explains. “An added bonus is [that] – through Scouting – we have gotten to make so many wonderful memories as a family and share the fun with other families in our community.”
Scouting changes lives. It encourages kids to ditch screen time for the great outdoors. It fosters character development, provides young people with new skills and helps prepare individuals for life.
