This morning, we and mutual aid partners from Armor Volunteer Fire Company, Big Tree VFC, Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department, Newton Abbott Fire Company, Inc., Lake View Fire District, the Orchard Park Fire District(RIC), AMR Western New York, and the Town of Hamburg Police were alerted to heavy smoke in the area of 5755 Maelou Drive, off of Legion Drive. First arriving units found heavy fire showing from the rear of a one-story commercial building, operated by Consumer's Beverages.
Scranton 1, the first arriving engine, established a water supply and advanced a 2" initial attack line to the rear of the building, where entry was made and the greatest concentration of fire was evident.
Hamburg Truck 6 operated on the roof for ventilation, and additional personnel from Scranton, Newton-Abbott, Big Tree, and Armor operated additional handlines within the building, established mechanical ventilation, and performed overhaul on the exterior.
There were no injuries. The scene was turned over to a fire investigator from the Hamburg Town Police, and Town Building Inspection.
As per usual, reliable fire dispatching duties were performed by the members of Hamburg Fire Dispatchers Local 2478, IAFF working for Hamburg Fire Control.
