Giving Tuesday 2023

As a valued supporter of our mission, we wanted to share our vision for the future and invite you to be a crucial part of our relaunch and rebranding efforts.

As you may know, the New York Volunteer Network has been dedicated to helping people since 2020. Over the years, we have made a significant impact in New York State through enhancing accessibility through home renovations, funding legal expenses for domestic abuse victims, replacing stolen e-bikes for workers, and raising funds for travel expenses for a medical care.

However, we believe that there is always room for growth and improvement, and thus, we are thrilled to announce our plans for a relaunch. The year 2024 marks a pivotal moment for us, and we are seizing this opportunity to revitalize our organization, ensuring that we are better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our community.

Our relaunch will involve a targeted focus on outreach, marketing, and more efficiently finding and funding causes--then, upon completion, better marketing those causes for increased donors, and to show the donors where their money went.

To make this vision a reality, we are seeking supporters who share our passion for stepping in where government stops.

Your support has been instrumental in our past successes, and we believe that with your continued commitment, we can achieve even greater heights.

Help us amplify our message by sharing our relaunch and rebranding efforts within your network. Your advocacy can make a significant impact.

We are eager to keep you informed about our progress and involve you in the exciting developments that lie ahead. Thank you for your continued belief in our mission. Your support is a beacon of hope as we embark on this transformative journey. We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!

Warm regards,
Duane J. Whitmer

Our new project is to obtain $1,000 in monthly recurring donations. This allows us to complete smaller projects on a monthly revolving basis, as opposed to hearing about a project, fundraising for the project, and completing the project. Having funds set aside will streamline our process and allow us to quickly complete projects.

Earlier this week, we heard about Joe Williams. Joe works at Home Depot in West Seneca and has a disability that keeps him from being able to drive. He uses an electric bicycle to get to work and run errands. Joe also has a wife and young child that rely on his income, and the bike to maintain their household.

Last week, the bike was stolen from him while he was at work. This prevented Joe from being able to work, and negatively impacted their family. A coworkers mom heard about the theft, and started to raise money for a new bike.

Our director Duane J. Whitmer saw a post on Facebook and reached out to Joelle Buczkowski-Stanton (the original poster) to see what we can do to help.

Thankfully, Freewheel Bike Shop offered to help find a replacement bike at cost.

A few calls were made, money was donated, and today we were able to give Joe a new bike.

Thank you Joelle, Freewheel Bike Shop as well as H&H Entertainment and Whitmer Accounting and Tax, LLC who donated the money to purchase the bike.

Hello everyone!

We are excited to share our holiday fundraiser for homeless care packages! Our goal is hefty; we are aiming to raise $12,000 to give 2,500 people hats, gloves, scarves, socks, and more in order to start this winter season off comfortably. The sooner we hit our goal, the sooner we can order our supplies and hopefully get these packages out into the community before Christmas! Please consider donating to and sharing our fundraiser, and reach out to our page if you'd like to assist in distributing the care packages--we are based in WNY but are more than willing to meet or deliver to you in WNY, CNY, the Southern Tier, Downstate, or Capital Region!

Our newest donation drive will benefit Roger and Melissa who have been battling Melissa’s kidney failure for years. After many, many bumps in the road, they finally found Melissa a perfect match for a new transplant and they have been traveling back and forth from their home to the transplant clinic in Buffalo. They have over a dozen trips left to make over the next few months and with gas prices where they are we’d love to help give them some peace of mind when it comes to one more expense. All donations will be given to Roger and Melissa in the form of gas gift cards. Click the link and please consider reading their story, making a donation, and sharing. Thank you!

“February 2020 my wife Melissa was brought to tears and totally devastated when her nephrologist told us that her new transplant from March of 2018 was failing, and she was going to have to do dialysis again. A few months later in July, we were no...

Volunteers make it happen!

Happy Labor Day!

🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

I spent some of my Labor Day weekend, laboring! 😊🔨🪚🪛👷‍♂️

By volunteering with the New York Volunteer Network at the Jordan home in the outskirts of Chemung County in the 6th Legislative District. Demoed a wall then hung some new sheet rock to prepare for the mudders to come behind me. Also helped Jimmy with some beautiful bamboo flooring that's being installed. Looking forward to completing the project in the next few weeks....

I'm NOT a contractor by any means but have always been a quick learner and enjoy doing it! This has been a very rewarding experience and I've learned a lot already!

We are proud to announce that not only have we already replaced Stephen‘s roof but we raised $1500 towards the next goal for Stephen. When Stephen’s roof leaked his home sustained damage on the inside. To prevent open pathways to the outside cold air in winter, not to mention anything else, we seek a total of $4700 to repair the water damage and seal everything up. With another $3200 we can get this done. The next goal is for a bathroom and interior doors that are usable for Steven in his new situation. Winter is always coming here in upstate New York and we feel it is imperative to get that next step done before the cold comes. These are bare necessities however they will lead to more. With appropriate accommodation in his own home Stephen will be able to find a path back to the things he loves. Stephen has a great passion for fishing and working out at the gym, here are some of Stephen‘s fishing accomplishments. Let's get him back out there doing what he loves!

Today we'd like to introduce you to Stephen. Stephen is a Marine Corps Veteran, once a marine always a marine, and Stephen has fallen on hard times. Stephen will tell you a lot in the video below but for his full story and the situation at hand click the donation link above. Find out how Stephen lost his legs and more after a 6 week coma due to the pandemic. Stephen just wants to get back to work and back to fishing and hunting as he loved to do. First, however, we need to give Steven an accessible home as a base of operations for him to rebuild his life in the image that he wishes.
