🇺🇸 Legislation was signed into law to dedicate the New York State Thruway Authority bridge on Cleveland Drive in Cheektowaga in honor and memory of PFC Travis Krege.
This December marks the 20th anniversary of Private Krege’s death while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. All are welcome to join the Krege family at the dedication ceremony being held next Tuesday, September 1st at 11:00 am outside Infant of Prague Church, mere steps from where the bridge signs are being permanently installed. We hope it will be a fitting tribute to a native son who gave his all in defense of freedom and democracy around the world.

We’re collecting donations to help keep Amelia’s Pet Pantries stocked for families and pets in need throughout our community.

🐾 Blasdell Church (Lake Ave.) • 2:00–4:00 PM

We’re accepting donations for all household pets, including:

🦴 Treats
🪮 Grooming supplies
🦮 Collars & leashes
…and more!

New or gently used items are welcome.

Every donation will help fill Amelia’s Pet Pantries at all three locations and make a difference for local pets and the families who love them.

August 10 is Agent Orange Awareness Day. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 2.6 million veterans have been exposed to Agent Orange, but there other studies indicate that the actual number of veterans exposed to Agent Orange is much higher. Today, the VA has recognized certain cancers and other health problems as presumptive diseases associated with exposure to Agent Orange or other herbicides during military service. Veterans and their survivors may be eligible for benefits for these diseases.

When an American flag becomes worn, tattered, or no longer fit to fly, it deserves to be retired with the dignity and respect it represents.

Hamburg VFW Post 1419 has a U.S. Flag Retirement Drop Box located in our vestibule for members of the community to conveniently drop off flags for proper and respectful disposal.
