This week is the official start of the 186th Erie County Fair , August 12th - 23rd located in Hamburg, NY. Be sure to stop by and visit us at our booth #965 in the Conservation Building, where we will have our Kid’s Official Weigh station, each day kids can stop on by, pick a fish out of the cooler and weigh a walleye, fill out a ticket after weigh-in and be entered to win a FREE Rod and Reel, we will draw a name each day of the fair at 6pm for the lucky winner. Bring your kids over and be sure to weigh a fish and get entered!

Don’t miss our STWA kid’s Worm Harness tying event sponsored by Eye-Fish Lures, and Reel Time Charters during the Demo Days at the Conservation Building on August 17th and 18th from 10am to 2pm, come on by it’s a great time for the kids to get involved with fishing and tie a Worm Harness that they can use out on the lake.

Also, we are adding something fun for the adults, we have a Garmin Unit Giveaway, this raffle will be open to anyone 18 years or older. Stop by our booth each day of the fair and simply fill out a yellow ticket with your details to be entered for free, at a chance to win this amazing Charplotter/Fishfinder. Limit is one entry per person, per day. We will draw this prize on the last day of the fair; you do not need to be present to win.

Stop by and see us, we will have some fun things for everyone, and our members will be on hand to answer all your walleye fishing and club related questions!

We regret to inform you of the passing of former Southtowns Walleye Association of WNY Board Member Jerry Lesinski.

Dec 5, 1947 - Aug 2, 2026

Of Lakeview, NY. Beloved companion of Marguerite M. Malik; father of Nicole M. Lesinski and Mark C. (Brooke) Lesinski; grandfather of Haven M. Lesinski; son of the late Harry S. and Charlotte J. (Zoladz) Lesinski; eldest brother of Katherine M. (Craig) Roth, Christine J. (Thom) Pieczonka, and the late James D. Lesinski; also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Following his graduation from Bishop Timon High School, Jerry earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Buffalo and his Master's Degree from Buffalo State College. He then dedicated 33 years as a history (and driver's education) teacher in the West Seneca Central School District. As a man with a witty sense of humor, many former students and colleagues remember him best for his "joke of the week" contest in his classroom. An avid fisherman and hunter, Jerry truly enjoyed time outdoors. He actively participated in his community throughout the years by serving as the president of the West Seneca Central Employees Federal Credit Union, the president of the Maple Springs Association, and a board member of the Southtowns Walleye Association. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Seneca Teachers' Association Scholarship Fund.

The Southtowns Walleye Association of WNY regrets to inform you that Past Member, Charter Captain, Carving Artist, and friend to all, Hans Mann passed away on the morning of August 6th.

We will all mourn his loss deeply as Hans was an inspiration to all that knew him, or had crossed paths with him. Whether it was at the boat launch, a fishing tournament, or sitting next to him in his boat fishing for Musky, Walleye, or Bass he loved it all.
We thank Hans for all he did for our amazing fishery, and for being a great Ambassador for the WNY Fishing Community. You will be truly missed by all.

We wish to extend our Condolences to Hans's wife Liz, his children Dee Dee, and W***y. If you're so inclined next time you're out on the water, please look up and say a little prayer for Hans.

We will cherish our Walleye Derby Trophy that Hans carved for the club back in 2019. He was a truly gifted artist.

There has been a Go Fund Me set up to help the family through this tragic loss. If you can spare to donate to help out the family, they would truly appreciate it.

Reminder the general membership meeting is tomorrow Thursday July 23rd. Just a reminder our meetings will be starting at 6:30PM going forward, as a motion was made and it was voted on by our membership, and approved. Our meal be a chicken and rib bbq. This will be our annual kids oriented meeting. There is a bunch of activities planned for the kids.
If you haven't picked up your derby check and or prize pack please come to the meeting to pick up your check, and prizes.

Our July General Membership Meeting is being moved to Thursday July 23rd.
Our annual kids meeting will be at this meeting also. Stay tuned for updates on activities for that night. We will have a Chicken, and Rib BBQ for our meal that night.

Attention fisherman that fish out of the Cattaraugus Creek. Please follow the Town of Hanover page for updates on the repairs of the fish cleaning station.
We will update once we hear on the reopening. Its imparative to follow all instructions while using any of our local fish cleaning stations. They are all getting used and abused right now processing the thousands of walleye a week they are seeing.
