As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States this Independence Day, we pause in deep reverence to honor our courageous veterans. With profound gratitude, we remember their selfless sacrifices for our freedom.

The men of WWII were the greatest generation, perhaps Korea the forgotten, Vietnam the trampled, Cold War unsung, and Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan vets underestimated. Every generation has proved itself to be worthy to stand up to the precedent of the greatest generation. Going back to the Revolution, American soldiers have been the best in the world. As your newsfeed begins to fill up with sales and weekend plans, let us take a moment to reflect and remember what this long weekend is truly about.

On Memorial Day, we remember those who never got to take off the uniform.

On Memorial Day, we remember those who have said their last goodbye.

On Memorial Day, we think of the wives & husbands that have lost spouses, parents who have lost children, children who have lost parents, and veterans that have lost comrades.

These are the people who will never forget what Memorial Day means.

On Memorial Day, we remember the cost of war and understand the meaning of sacrifice.

So enjoy this long weekend. But while you're shopping, grilling, and relaxing, take a moment to reflect on all of the men and women who, since 1775, have been killed while answering our nation's call to serve.

Last week on Monday, September 9th we hosted the 8th annual Tee It Up for the Troops event at Wanakah Country Club.

Thank you to our sponsors, patrons, volunteers, committee members and most importantly the veterans, active duty, and gold and blue star families who were in attendance.

We are immensely proud to host an event to honor all the brave men and women who have served our country!
