Last week, we asked for help restocking a few of our pantry shelves, and you showed up. 💛

Thanks to our amazing community, we've received lots of pasta sauce and canned vegetables, and those shelves are looking much better.

Soup, however, is still running low... and now we're almost out of crackers too.

If you're able to help us restock this week, our biggest needs right now are:

🚨 MISSING: HAVE YOU SEEN THESE FOODS?

We’re running very low on a few pantry staples right now:

If you’re grocery shopping this week, keep an eye out for sales and consider grabbing an extra can or two for the pantry. A few cans here and a few jars there add up quickly when our community pitches in! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has been so generous and donated so far.

We could still use some help before we start distributing school supplies next week. If you're out and about and can pick up an extra item or two, the parents of local school-aged children would be so grateful.

We didn't add it to the list, but we could also use some black and blue ballpoint pens and sticky notes. Everything else is still needed, especially older girl backpacks and large glue sticks.

Our canned fruit shelves are nearly empty. 😩

It’s one of those items that goes into bags every single day, especially for families with children, and we’ve reached the point where we’re struggling to keep it in stock.

📚✏️ Back-to-School Supply Drive 🎒

First, thank you.

Our community has already donated so many school supplies for local children, and we’re incredibly grateful for your generosity. Every backpack, notebook, box of crayons, and pack of pencils helps a child start the school year feeling prepared and confident.

As we get closer to the first day of school, we’ve inventoried what we’ve received and put together a list of the items we’re still running low on. If you’re heading out for back-to-school shopping, we’d be so grateful if you’d consider picking up one or two extra items for a local student.

🚨 Protect Your SNAP Benefits from Theft! 🚨

Unfortunately, we’ve been hearing from more and more neighbors whose SNAP/EBT benefits have been stolen before they could use them. One of the best ways to help protect your benefits is to freeze your EBT card whenever you’re not shopping.

New to EBT Edge? Here’s how to get started:

1️⃣ Visit ebtedge.com or download the EBT Edge app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2️⃣ Select “Cardholder Login” and then “Register Here.”
3️⃣ Enter your EBT card number and follow the prompts to verify your information and create a username and password.
4️⃣ Once your account is set up, sign in and turn on email or text alerts (if available) so you’re notified whenever your card is used or your monthly benefits are deposited.

To help protect your benefits:

🔒 Freeze (lock) your EBT card whenever you’re not shopping.
🛒 Before making a purchase, log in and unfreeze (unlock) your card.
🔒 After you’re finished shopping, freeze it again.

It only takes a few seconds and can help prevent thieves from using your benefits if they somehow obtain your card information.

Wow! 🤩 Have you heard about FeedMore WNY’s mobile farm market? We stopped by yesterday when they were at Iris Senior Apartments in Hamburg and their produce selection is absolutely incredible! Best part? It’s not just limited to those who receive food assistance. Everything is priced under $5.00 and if you’re a SNAP recipient, you get 50% off! Wanna guess how much all this incredible produce was? ONLY $38 (or $19 if you use your SNAP card.) We decided to add all of the same items to our online cart at Wegmans and it was $65! They source as much as possible from local farmers - yes, that is Eden corn 🌽 - and the rest is mostly from the US, though the cukes 🥒 were from our neighbors just across the border. We’ve highlighted their July stops in and around the Southtowns in the comments below and linked their entire July schedule as well. Make sure you follow FeedMore WNY to see where they stop regularly.
