EARLY AMERICAN SHAKER TREE OF LIFE THEOREM STENCIL PAINTING

Explore the rich history and intricate techniques of Theorem Painting, a distinguished Early American art form prevalent in Colonial New England from the late 18th Century through the mid-1800's, as you create an oil painting done exclusively through stenciling.

The 9"x12" beginners Theorem design we will be doing is a replica of "The Tree of Life" circa 1854 symbolic of the Shaker community.
Using a series of pre-cut stencils, learn how to apply oil paint with brushes to a cotton velveteen fabric board to create a portrait that looks hand painted and suitable for framing. Anyone can do this art...and we will practice before doing the actual picture. Each participant will complete and take home the project.

No previous experience is required. All materials provided.

Did you know that Dreibelbis Historical Farm has a wildflower trail and nature trail? We are going to be working to clean up this trail in the coming month and could use some help. If you are interested in volunteering to help us mark the trail, clear brush, and replace some signage let us know!
