Since 1912, members of the Arkansas Extension Homemaker's Council (AEHC), have made it their mission to empower individuals and families to improve their lives through continuing education, leadership development, and community service. The organization is one of the largest nonprofit volunteer groups in the state. Extension Homemaker's, the Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas, a

nd the United States Department of Agriculture are partners in providing education to families throughout Arkansas. The Ashley County Extension Homemaker's Clubs have a mission to build strong families and communities through continuing education, leadership development and community service. Extension Homemaker Clubs are affiliated with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. Clubs meet monthly in communities throughout the state. At the meetings, members have education programs based on the latest information on subjects such as nutrition, financial management, family & child development, health, environment, crafts, activities and much more. In addition to monthly meetings, members organize special projects for the community. Membership in EHC is available to everyone.

Ingredients:
10 ounces bacon, sliced
2 cups ground beef
Salt
Pepper
Paprika powder
2 cups shredded mozzarella
¼ cup bell pepper, different color slices
3 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon honey

Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400 F / 220 C.
Lay the bacon slices in a 10-inch pie pan. The strips have to cover the entire bottom of the pan, and they have to hang out over the side of the dish.
Put the ground beef into the pie pan and extend it with your hands.
Sprinkle the salt, the pepper and the paprika powder.
Add the shredded mozzarella to cover the ground beef.
Top it with the bell pepper slices.
One by one, roll the bacon slices to the middle of the pie pan.
In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce and the honey.
Spread the soy sauce and honey mixture, using a silicone brush, over the bacon and beef pie.
Bake it for 45 minutes.
Serve it warm!

Potential Refund Delays for EITC and CTC Recipients
The IRS will delay release of Tax refunds that include the EITC or the refundable part of the CTC until February 15, 2017. This will enable the IRS to verify income reported on those returns to help prevent identity theft and erroneous refunds.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we are having to change the dates of the carnival and the concert. The dates are now Wednesday, September 14-Saturday, September 17. (One week earlier). Armband night is still Thursday AND Saturday night for $20, purchase at the ticket booth. The McClendon Worship Band will be performing Wednesday the 14th at 7pm. Please bring your lawn chairs for an outdoor concert!! All other events will continue as previously scheduled beginning with the horse show on Saturday the 17th. PLEASE SHARE!!! We hope to see you this year!

Amazing turnout for the honey extraction event today in Little Rock! Specialist Jon Z along with UA grad students show kids the difference between honey and bumble bees as well as how a beekeeper extracts honey from beehives.

Obituary for Willene Barnett Stinson | Jones Funeral Home

Very sad time for ACEHC. One of our own has passed on to a better place. Mrs Willene Stinson was a very dedicated and loyal member of ACEHC for many year until her health got the better of her and she could no longer attend meetings. We will miss you dearly, until we meet again flying high up in the sky with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

The Mediterranean diet is associated with lower risks of heart disease, hypertension, cancer, diabetes and obesity..
You will have the opportunity to learn more about this healthy way of eating by participating in the Mediterranean Cooking School.
You will learn to make delicious traditional recipes from France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Morocco. This is a hands on class, so wear your comfortable shoes and bring your appetite!

Thursday, April 14, 2016 is the date set for the Spring Extension Homemakers Council Program to be held in the EH room Courthouse Annex in Hamburg.

Registration will begin at 9:30am and the program will start promptly at 10am. the speaker will be Mr. Sean McIntosh, Program Coordinator with I-CAN (Increasing Capabilities Access Network of Little Rock.)

Each club will give a brief report of activities since the last council program. The club responsibilites are as follows:
Hostess is Potpourri
Decorations is Springhill
$10 Silent Auction items is all clubs
Potluck and Auction items everyone.

Please bring a guest with you to the council program. Hopefully we can encourage them to join EHC.

ExtensionGetFit Fitness Classes meet each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30am - 11:00am at the Crossett Public Library Community room located at 1700 South Main in Crossett. The cost is $12 for the year. The class participants will need to wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. A limited supply of dumbbells will be available at the class for participants to use.
Research shows that strength reaining iproves balance and energy, tones body, improves bone density, improves arthritis symptoms, increases flexib ility and strength, and reduces risk for diabetes and heart desease, reduces depression and improves sleep.
