June is National Internet Safety Month, an annual awareness campaign dedicated to educating youth, parents, and communities about online risks while promoting responsible digital citizenship.
Scouting America is proud to support this important effort through its partnership with Know2Protect, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's national public awareness campaign to prevent and combat online child exploitation and abuse. Through this partnership, Scouts and their families gain access to valuable online safety education, practical prevention strategies, and resources for reporting suspected abuse.
Helping young people protect their privacy online can start with a few simple conversations.
During National Internet Safety Month, parents and trusted adults can help kids and teens build healthy by encouraging three key actions:
๐ Turn off location sharing services
๐ Set social media and gaming accounts to private
๐ฅ Remove strangers from friends lists
Small changes can make a big difference in protecting personal information and giving young people more control over who can see their content and contact them online.
