I don’t usually post but am committed to finding the right people to come work with us at Heartlight and live-in staff that will commit a year of their life serving struggling teens right here in Longview, Texas.
Many of you know that my wife and I started the Heartlight program 36 years ago. We’re a residential counseling center and boarding school for struggling teens. We’ve seen over 3,500 struggling teens and their families get help and renewed hope…these teens spend 10 - 12 months in our residential program, located on 150 acres of the pristine forest of East Texas.
We have young people as our Residential Staff live with the Heartlight teens and take care of their every need and pour their lives into kids that are hurting. The Residential Staff are the backbone of our ministry….and the life-blood of our relational atmosphere and have a chance to “make a difference.”
So, here’s what I’m looking for. I need 4 girls’ staff, and 4 guys’ staff that would live in-house, with 3 other staff, and join our Heartlight Residential Staff Team.
These must be at least 21 years of age, have a love for the Lord and a love for kids who are struggling, mature and responsible, and must not be a “project” themselves. They have to be “healthy”, and bring value to the Heartlight table.
This isn’t always an easy job. It takes a person who is put together enough to offer grace to people who are struggling and remain engaged in the process of living with teens who are working through their issues and becoming healthy. They must be active in nature, loving in demeanor, and relational to the core.
Would you help me? Do you know of someone that might “fit that description” and would be interested in spending a year in the mission field of East Texas at Heartlight??? Someone that is over 21 and looking for a challenging job that “makes a difference” in the life of a family….and may just change the destiny of this teen and their family.

These are salaried positions with Residential Staff earning $28-$30 the first year, Room & Board provided, as well as health insurance, dental insurance, eye insurance, and life insurance. 30 days, Paid Time Off. If they stay a 2nd year, an opportunity to participate in our generous 401(k) program that matches funds up to 8% is available to them. WHAT A DEAL! And my hope is that these folks will stay on our staff, and make a life of it, if they want.
So, how about it? Just calling or texting that person right now, sharing with them what I’ve said, and pointing them to HEARTLIGHT.JOBS, may just be the call they’re waiting for, and they might just be the right person that can have a significant impact on a teen and their family.
