The countdown to the Horn Farm Summer Solstice Market is on, and it's creating quite a buzz 🐝

This year, we're bringing together a hive of local makers that love the land as much as their craft. We're excited to introduce some of the creators that will make this market shine:

🧢 Berry Mountain Color Farm | naturally dyed fibers, plant dyes, & original art

🏺 Broadbent Pottery | handmade, functional pottery

🐝 York County Beekeepers Association in Pennsylvania

🍳 Locally Seasoned | cold beverages, food, & seasonal chutneys

🌱 Horn Farm's 2026 Cohort of the Regenerative Grower Training Program | organically-grown produce, agroforestry products, & plants

In addition to our growing list of local vendors, we'll have free activities for all ages going on throughout the day - farm tours, children's activities, and more. Stay tuned!

But on Saturday, September 19th, you can join us to savor the most unique flavors of the land! SAVE THE DATE for the 22nd Annual York County Pawpaw Festival at the Horn Farm!

North America's largest edible tree fruit, the pawpaw, is a staple of the Lower Susquehanna. But this short-lived fruit is just part of what makes the Pawpaw Festival so special!

As the signature event of the Horn Farm's 3rd Annual Wild & Uncommon Weekend, the Pawpaw Festival is also your gateway to unique tastes and outdoor adventures across the Riverlands, September 17-20!

🌿 Imagine: Your next trip to the grocery store is a walk in the woodland, where the options are abundant, nutritious, and FREE!

πŸ’ The June landscape in the lower Susquehanna River valley is the ultimate grocery store, pantry, and medicine cabinet. This marked transition between the seasons often offers the best that both have to offer: the lush greens of spring, and the juicy berries of summer.

🧺 In place of a monetary transaction for acquiring food, we'll explore ways that we can give back to the land, honoring its generosity so that it continues to nourish us for many years to come.

The next foraging walk at the Horn Farm Center is Sunday, June 7th. Reserve your spot today:

Slowing down and tuning in are essential for safe and ethical foraging. πŸ”Ž

The first two sessions of our 10-week Forager Training Program *focused* on honing these skills. From sketching and journaling to botanizing and analyzing, careful plant observation takes many forms, and this year's students are dabbling in all of them.

Of course, we've already enjoyed some seasonal snacking along the way, including locust flowers and wild mints! 🌼🌿

After a buzzing greenhouse season leading up to our Plant Sale, the Regenerative Grower Training Program is now transitioning to their field season! 🌱🌿🌳

February through April, students joined us twice a week to learn about growing plants. Everything from starting seeds to rooting trees.

In the spaces between, we explored plant anatomy and biology, took a dip into nature journaling, sowed early-season vegetables, and visited with a friend of the farm (Dale Hendricks) for inspiring insights into agroforestry and native plant horticulture.

The next phase of the RGTP now approaches, as we focus our attention on prepping beds and tending plants for the growing season ahead.

πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ Interested in digging deep with us in 2027? The 33-week Regenerative Grower Training Program INTEREST FORM is now open!

Sign up to be the first to know when registrations officially go live this summer. We also welcome any questions, curiosities, or concerns you may have as we plan for the next RGTP!

🌾 THIS SUNDAY: Most of us know that perfectly manicured, meticulously-maintained grass lawns aren't doing much for the environment. They can also be time-consuming, and resource-draining. Why do we keep investing time and energy into a less-than-perfect solution?

πŸ¦‹ 🌿 🐝 🌼 Imagine instead a strategy that supports native pollinators, requires less time behind the mower, saves money, and uses less energy resources? Seems like a win-win!

The Horn Farm Center is excited to welcome Rachel Benbow into our educational ecosystem for a presentation outlining the hows and whys of reimagining lawn culture. Your yard can be a flourishing, dynamic ecosystem - all it takes is a little inspiration, and practical strategy.

Join us for the first of many presentations taking place in our newly re-opened education center! Seats are going fast.
