☀The sun is shining, 🌿the plants are growing, and 🧺our baskets are full of wild food and medicine, craft materials, and gratitude. Want to be in the know about summer's abundance?

This summer season at the Horn Farm Center, our calendar is overflowing with foraging classes for 🍒foodies, 🎨crafters, 🌳naturalists, and 🌿herbalists. The best way to learn which seasonal plants are offering their gifts is by meeting and experiencing them, face-to-face. We're so excited to introduce you to them all!

To gather wild foods, medicines, and materials is only part of the foraging experience. As an activity deeply rooted in our human story, foraging is an invitation to reconnection—with the land, ourselves, and one another.

VolunTREErs, unite! 🌳👋

As part of the Horn Farm's regenerative vision, we've spent the last several years transforming over a dozen acres of degraded land into resilient habitat.

It wouldn't be possible without hundreds of volunteers helping us along the way. This summer, the journey continues!

THURSDAY EVENINGS beginning June 25th, you can help our team ensure a thriving future forest while learning how this work gets done.

Check out our Summer 2026 Tree Tending Volunteer Days for weekly opportunities to get outside, care for the land, and see what it takes to restore functional ecosystems together.

Spring is a fluttering time for our flock. But last week, the Horn Farm team enjoyed a well-timed break among the birds! 🦆🚣‍♀️

Thank you kayakLanCo and Mike Hudson of Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake for giving us a restorative and educational afternoon on the water discovering local bird life!

Part of the Lancaster Conservancy's 10th annual Water Week, our team embarked on a guided birding tour of the Conejohela Flats in the Susquehanna River. This unique chain of islands and mudflats is a prime destination for migratory waterfowl and songbirds.

Between listening for birdsong and learning about key visual identifiers, we enjoyed the company of great egrets, great blue herons, osprey, a belted kingfisher, yellow warblers, blue-gray gnatcatchers, red-eyed vireos, an indigo bunting, and even a yellow-billed cuckoo!

Buzz on over to 4945 Horn Road on Saturday, June 20th from 10-2pm, and kick off the official start of summer with us! Summer's not the only thing we're celebrating at this year's event. 🐝We're buzzing with excitement that another local artist has joined us for Horn Farm's 2nd Annual ☀Summer Solstice Market☀ on Saturday, June 20th, from 10-2pm!

🐌 Ren Slagel Illustration will be on-site sharing love and enthusiasm for our pollinator friends by way of original art, stickers, a specially-designed coloring book, and other hand-made nature-themed crafts.

🦋 A Philadelphia-based artist, Ren Slagel draws inspiration from elements of the natural world, using both traditional and digital mediums to capture the beauty of plants, animals, bugs, and beyond. 🐛Crawl on by🐛 to show your appreciation for the pollinators, and support local art next weekend at the Horn Farm Center!
