Change isn’t always easy—especially when it means stepping away from traditions that have brought our troop and community together for decades. This year, we faced the challenge of reimagining our annual food drive, unable to go door-to-door as we always have. Instead, we asked you to join us in new ways: by dropping off food at local events and businesses, or by sponsoring a tote for our scouts to fill.
Thanks to your incredible support, we surpassed our goal of 35 with 40 totes of food! This will go a long ways to help ensure that the Beacon of Hope food pantry can continue to serve those in need within our very own community.

Thank you to the Stanley FD Auxiliary for graciously allowing T68 to piggyback off of the annual craft fair, to Bostrom Farms and the Gorham Free Library for providing a drop off location, and most of all to you, our fellow community members who sponsored a tote, dropped off food, or provided us with support.
Your willingness to embrace change and rally behind our cause made a difference. Thank you for helping us turn a challenge into a success

With our gratitude.
The scouts and leadership from Hall Troop 68.

A Heartfelt Thanks & Final Push for Hall Troop 68 Scouting for Food Campaign:
We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity and spirit of our community! Thanks to your incredible support—whether you donated food, sponsored a tote, or helped spread the word—we’ve already collected 26 totes for the Beacon of Hope food pantry. We’re just 9 totes away from reaching our goal of 35!
To everyone who has contributed so far: thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kindness is making a real difference for families in need.
If you haven’t had a chance to participate yet, there’s still time! Our collection runs until Saturday, November 29th. You can drop off food at our bin on the corner of Lake to Lake and Goose Street in Stanley (just look for the Scouting for Food sign), or sponsor a tote for $50 and let Troop 68 Scouts shop for the pantry’s most-needed items on your behalf.
Let’s keep this amazing momentum going and reach our goal together! Every donation counts, and we’re so grateful for your continued support.
Thank you for showing what community is all about!

Discover Troop 68: Adventure, Friendship, and Fun
Curious about what Troop 68 has been up to? Here’s a look at some of our recent activities—perfect for anyone thinking about joining:
• April: We went whitewater rafting at Letchworth State Park, working together to navigate the rapids and enjoy the outdoors.
• July: Our Adirondack Adventure included hiking to the top of Ampersand Mountain, a 10-mile canoe trip on the Raquette River, and paddling across Massawepie Lake. Each day brought new experiences and challenges.
• October: We spent a weekend at the Scouting America Challenge Camporee (CTC) at Camp Cutler in Naples, connecting with other scouts and building skills through teamwork and friendly competition.
Troop 68 is a great place to make friends, learn new things, and have fun outside. If you’re interested in joining, we’d love to welcome you to our next meeting!

For years, our Boy Scout Troop has gone door to door collecting food for Scouting for Food, helping stock the shelves of the beacon of hope food pantry. This year, our troop is smaller — but our commitment to serving our neighbors is as strong as ever.

That’s why we’re joining forces with the Stanley Fire Dept at their upcoming Craft Fair Saturday Nov 8th to collect non-perishable food items for local families in need. Enjoy the Craft Fair while helping your neighbors. Good Deeds and Good Deals!

💛 How You Can Help:

Bring a food donation to the Craft Fair — every can, box, and bag makes a difference.

Sponsor a Full Tote of Food for just $50 — we’ll do the shopping and fill a tote in your honor to help feed local families.

Every donation stays right here in our community, helping our neighbors put meals on the table.

As you know, the need is particularly great this year.

💵 Sponsor a Tote: $50 — donations can be made at the event or by contacting the Troop 68 Scoutmaster (Jim Abel) at [email protected] for payment options.

Our goal this year is to fill 35 totes!

Thank you for supporting Scouting for Food and for standing with us to make a difference!

For over 100 years, the Scouts from Troop 68 in Hall have honored the fallen by holding a flag raising ceremony at the number 9 church during Memorial Day weekend. We would like to thank Ontario County Historian Dr. Preston Pierce for reading the names of the Veterans who have been laid to rest in their cemetery. We are proud to carry on this tradition.

Hall Troop 68 February Campout this year featured a Scout built lean-to and a trail blazing/clearing service project. Temperatures hit a low of 15 degrees overnight, but the scouts built a good shelter, and insulated themselves from the cold ground by using tarps and pine boughs.

Troop 68 January 'wild things' campout was focused on local activities which included an educational encounter with 'Heidi' the Red-Tailed Hawk and her handler Markus Hardt (a licensed falconer) and a visit to the Reindeer farm in Shortsville. We camped out in the great outdoors under high winds and temperatures in the teens, but these young men came prepared and made it through the night. Nice job scouts.

Troop 68 would like to thank the community for supporting our Scouting for Food activities over the past 2 weekends. Because of your generosity we have more than 51 full totes of food to donate to the Flint Creek Church of God Food Pantry. If you know someone in need, please make them aware of this resource.
Try as we might, we do sometimes miss a bag or two when doing our pick-ups. If we missed you, please send a message to this page and we will make private arrangements to pick up your donation.

Calling all town of Seneca voters!
BSA Troop 68 will once again be hosting a pancake supper at the Town of Seneca Garage (conveniently located next to the Town Hall polling station!).

Citizenship is a huge part of scouting and what defines Scouting BSA in our communities. Our scouts are not-yet of voting age, but are taught to cherish the rights we have as free people in the country, and how to respect others abroad. We would love to see you stop by in our one-night-only (Nov. 7th) drive through service so that we can serve you dinner, after you have had a chance to serve your community by casting your ballot. When you drive through, please let our scouts know why you choose to exercise your right to vote.

Troop 68 overnight at the Buffalo Naval Ship Encampment. Our troop spent the night on the USS Little Rock and had the opportunity to explore the USS Croaker and USS The Sullivans. It was a great trip, and phenomenal learning experience. Since we were in Buffalo, we decided to eat at the amazing establishment where chicken wings were invented on Sunday. A great experience for all who attended!
