Teacher Mini-Grant applications are rolling in and it's so exciting to read the innovative ideas teachers have for enhancing their curriculum and increasing student learning and engagement.

Soon, the Teacher Mini-Grant committee will be pouring over grant applications and deciding which projects to fund. While we'd love to fund them all, sometimes tough decisions have to be made based on funding availability.

We're seeking your support to help make as many of these projects possible. Every donation enriches students, supports teachers, and strengthens Halifax County. Donate today! https://www.hcpsef.org/contact

Imagine the impact of just $1 a day.
For the 180 days our students are in school, that’s $180 that can transform one child’s classroom experience through the Teacher Mini‑Grant Program.

From hands‑on science kits to creative literacy projects, your $1/day commitment fuels the innovation teachers bring to life and directly supports the students who benefit from it.

You don’t have to give it all at once. Choose the option that works for you:
• $20/month for 9 months
• $45/quarter
• $180 one‑time gift

Join our 180‑Day Campaign and show Halifax County students that their community believes in their potential. Your daily dollar makes a difference.

The W. Morgan Miller Memorial Scholarship was established by his family and friends to honor and remember his life, his character, and his integrity. Sadly, in early 2022, at the age of 63, he passed away unexpectedly. Morgan’s passing left a huge void in his family, in his church and in his community. Morgan was a truly kind and generous person of great character who was quick to offer a helping hand wherever needed. Upon his passing, many previously untold stories were revealed to family members of Morgan’s calling or checking in on sick friends or neighbors, mowing lawns for seniors or widows/widowers, and helping those who were down on their luck. In addition to honoring academic success, leadership, and participation in school activities, this scholarship seeks to recognize students who exemplify outstanding character or integrity. Join us in congratulating this year's recipients!

Ms. Satiecesa Ford, Early Childhood Special Education Teacher at South Boston Early Learning Center, used her Mini‑Grant to bring storytelling to life with puppets, felt board sets, and other hands‑on props.

These hands-on concrete materials helped build comprehension and participation by giving these young learners the tools to retell stories and develop expressive language.

This is what your support makes possible.
When you invest in classroom innovation, you’re giving teachers the tools to transform learning for every child.

Our educators have bold ideas that spark curiosity, strengthen learning, and open doors for PK–12 students. What they need are partners who believe in possibility.

This Spring, Mme. Peacock's French IV/DE students delivered language and culture lessons to some of our county's youngest learners: Cluster Springs Elementary's 1st graders. The children explored vocabulary and French culture, eagerly anticipating each new lesson. The high school students cite the experience as a true highlight of their French studies, claiming "Oui! taught them well!"

This project, made possible by a HCPS Education Foundation Teaher Mini-Grant, is a shining example of the magic of learning that can happen when our teachers and students have a community that believes in the power of innovative learning.

🎉 Hands‑On Learning in Halifax County!
Kindergarten students at Clays Mill Elementary School explored foundational coding concepts thanks to a mini‑grant funded by the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation.
Through an interactive “Simon Says” activity, students became robots by practicing step‑by‑step directions, sequencing, and discovering how computer “bugs” can interrupt a program. They also learned how debugging helps fix mistakes and improve their code.
Students then applied their new skills by programming Coding Critters, testing commands, revising instructions, and strengthening their problem‑solving abilities. They learned that mistakes aren’t setbacks, they’re part of the learning process.
This engaging lesson was facilitated by Khaela Powell, ITRT, whose creativity and expertise helped bring coding to life for our youngest learners.
💙 Why Mini‑Grants Matter
