Several years ago, a number of these planters were found in the basement of the Halifax Town Hall. The Halifax Beautification Committee asked businesses in town if they would like to use them to beautify their store fronts. Pictured here is one of two that went to the Halifax Post Office where for years the pots were filled brimming with beautiful flowers.

Unfortunately, paint has peeled and become dull on them. The pots are probably made of some sort of plastic. Is there anyone who could attempt to refinish this planter within the next couple of weeks? If that goes smoothly , there is a 2nd one at the post office that also needs fixing up.

Two other planters are currently filled with displays on the steps of the Town Hall. When Fall comes, it would be nice to have those refinished as well.

If you are interested in doing this work, the planter pictured here can be brought to your home.

Some litter busting was done along Route 106 this morning. Most of the litter in the bags is just from one telephone pole to the next one the sidewalk side. The other side was also litter busted along this section as well as all the way to the corner. If someone could work more on the sidewalk side of this area of road that would be awesome. If you do, please attach photos in the comments of the litter you picked up.

These two bags hold approximately 7.2 lbs of cigarette related litter found mostly within 11/4 miles of the intersection of Oak Street and Princeton Street since May 2, 2025. 50.15lbs have been picked since January 1, 2022. Each pound contains approximately 1000 cigarette butts. So about 50,000 butts have been picked up in this area over 53 months. This environmentally hazardous litter will be shipped to Terracycle to be recycled. For every pound of cigarette litter sent, $1 is contributed to Keep America Beautiful.

These littered mylar balloons were found by a Halifax resident while kayaking near Powder Point Bridge this afternoon. The author of this post in the past has found littered mylar balloons by the shore of Silver Lake, along the Scroton Creek in Sandwich, in Smitty's Bog (a conservation area) in Hanson, along the shore of a pond at Massasoit State Park in East Taunton, along a shore of a small conservation bog pond near Stetson Pond and along Route 36 near the Halifax line.

According to AI, "mylar balloons can remain in the environment hundreds of years eventually breaking down into microplastics. Sea turtles and other marine animals often mistake these balloons with jellyfish and ingest them causing intentional blockages that may be fatal."

Litter from the western half of Aldana Road picked up this morning.

Please consider adopting a section of roadway in town to regularly adopt.
