Retrospective 2 Concert premieres on the Clear Creek Music Festival YouTube channel tonight, July 24, at 7:00 p.m. PDT (9:00 Central). The program opens with Blaise Ferrandino's first piece for the festival, "The Wings of the Mountains," which inspired Sharol Chandler's painting. Repertoire ranges from the Romanticism of Chopin and Rachmaninoff to the Impressionism of Debussy to modern mystics and the jazz influences on Ibert and Kapustin featuring pianists, cellists, woodwinds, and singers. The addition of photos, paintings, and video to some of the works makes clear the special connection between music and nature. Come fly with us! The final virtual concert of the Festival featuring performances at proper social distance and the virtual choir will be Sunday, July 26, also at 7:00. A Zoom gathering will be held Saturday, July 25 at 4:00. Contact us if you would like access information. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91VR9dTU8F0 . .

With great regret we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Clear Creek Music Festival. Given all the uncertainties of travel and gathering, the longing to share music and fellowship must be outweighed by the health risks of doing so. We are working on plans to present performances by faculty and alumni online, including the premiere of this year's trio for piano, cello, and flute by Blaise Ferrandino. Updates on progress soon. Stay well!

Dear Clear Creek friends. At present we are proceeding with plans for this summer's music festival July 14-26. Mark your calendars, apply, use isolation to practice and explore new repertoire. Enjoy all the free music streams. We will continue to monitor developments. Should travel be inadvisable as the time approaches, we will cancel the Festival and application and tuition fees will be returned. We will also contact all our wonderful donors concerning future plans and options.

Welcome baritone David Grogan to the faculty for the tenth Clear Creek Music Festival season! David has delighted audiences and received critical acclaim for his oratorio and recital performances across the Southwest. The Dallas Morning News hailed Mr. Grogan as the “perfect Christus” after a performance of the St. Matthew Passion with the Dallas Bach Society. The Albuquerque Tribune, in reference to a performance of Messiah with the New Mexico Symphony, said, “David Grogan had all the range and power required of the part, sounding like the voice of doom in ‘The people that walked in darkness’ and the light of revelation in ‘The trumpet shall sound.’” A recent performance of Elijah had critics praising his ability to “move easily from stentorian declamation to lyrical aria.” Another critic said that he “….brought an impressive vocal power to the lead role of Elijah, and his rich emotive gift set the level for the other chief performers.” Other recent performances have included Orff’s Carmina Burana, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, and the Brahms Deutsches Requiem under Helmuth Rilling. He will be performing Beethoven's masterful song cycle "An die ferne Geliebte" and other songs on the Cliburn Concerts "Beethoven at 250 Festival" this spring.
