This past Saturday fellow Post 33 members Mickey Holdbrooks and Brian Harper, along with myself, participated in a flag folding and presentation ceremony for the family of Mickey Norris, a Vietnam veteran who recently passed away. We have done several of these ceremonies in the past and each one has been somewhat different. As Brian played Taps on his trumpet I was reminded the emotional level always stays the same.

Update to our post last night. All veterans in the home were moved out and into another facility thanks to the work of all responders and a great coordinated effort from the unified command team including but not limited to the fire, police, ems, EMA, ADVA, staff and command of the home, the staff and command of the receiving facilities. Hopefully the situation has been contained to a small area and all veterans can hopefully move back into there home in the near future. We thank everyone whom has already messaged offering support and assistance.

I will be trying to get more info and see what plan is in place and happening. Let's pray these veterans are getting taken care of as they should be in this time!!!

Straight from the Governers office, exactly what was warned and not supported by our membership. We were told by our Dept that the board would remain the same. Now, the Governor is giving us 60 days to pick new candidate's for the ADVISORY BOARD! ("The law gives veteran services organizations (VSOs) 60 days to provide new nominees to the Governer for appointment to the board."- Excerpt from Website of Governer.) Our Dept constitution and bylaws outline how we choose who will be on the Board. How will we be able to follow OUR OUTLINE in said items when our convention is not until June and we only have 60 DAYS to CHOOSE NOMINEES to serve on her ADVISORY BOARD!!
