Boy Scout Troop 23 Funkstown, MD We are Troop 23, of Funkstown, Maryland. We were founded in 2012 and still going strong. We are a boy led troop and extremely active. We were founded in 2012.

Thanks to the Funkstown American Legion. Our current adult leadership consists of many dedicated adult leaders, all are trained for their positions, 2 are Woodbadge trained and 2 are Eagle Scouts. We currently have 5 boys working on their Eagle. 2015 will be the year we produce our first of many Eagle Scouts!!

Congratulations to our newest Troop 23 Eagle Scout, Korbin Hammer. Korbin‘s Eagle project was planting 12 new trees along Edgewood Drive and putting a raised flower bed around the new message center in Funkstown.

A huge shoutout to Troop 23 for coming up to camp this past weekend and installing a brand new gate at the south end of camp!

Special thanks to Andrew Reiss for lending a hand, and to Troop 23 for donating materials and building the gate.

If all your gear smells like camp fire it was a good weekend. Great weekend of scouting that included back to back five mile hikes, one being a night trek to Annapolis Rock. Rank up, great food and fellowship all around. Thank you Gavin Gavin for the planning, as well as Mike Smith and David Hendrickson for cooking and program.

Antietam Creek Clean-up today with Rich Gaver David Hendrickson and Charlie Smith. Recovered 5 bicycles and a big wheel tri cycle, 14 bags of plastic bottles, aluminum cans and broken glass bottles, a road construction sign and barricade, a tent, sleeping bag and a down comforter, numerous broken ceramic insulators, a cast iron steel grate and some other discarded materials. Plus we cleared a pathway through a downed oak and sycamore tree that became a complete blockage of Antietam Creek just north of the wastewater treatman plant. Great work fellas.
