I dont normally post about my journey in recovery but yesterday marked my 6 years clean and it reminds me of one of my favorite quotes that I think about along with my recovery
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others"
So for me and what I try to do in the community and also in the recovery community I am very clear about who I am and who I was in both. And we talk about as clean addicts there are no limits to what we can achieve so we can't be afraid of success and I've also seen people that felt like they had to hide their troubles addiction seeing me and some other people in my network being open and honest about our troubles that they can't be honest about them selves. So I just try best and will continue to be open and honest about who I am and try to shine so I can give someone else the courage to not hide in their own darkness because of their past but go grown from their past and reach for the stars and shine and grow to achieve their dreams. Recovery is possible
