Thankful, grateful, blessed!

Dear Relay For Life of Western Tidewater Participants,
On behalf of the American Cancer Society, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for supporting our mission through your volunteer efforts, fundraising, and participation in the Relay For Life of Western Tidewater.

Together, you have raised an incredible $58,419, helping us continue funding lifesaving cancer research, patient support programs, advocacy efforts, and resources for those affected by cancer. Your dedication and generosity mean more than words can express to us and to the countless individuals and families who rely on the American Cancer Society.

Please note that our 2026 Relay For Life website will remain open until October 14 for any additional donations. Beginning October 15, the site will close as we begin preparations for our 2027 Relay For Life website. Once registration opens for the 2027 event, we will notify everyone so you can register and begin planning for another successful Relay season.

We would also like to recognize and thank our amazing committee members whose year-round planning, commitment, and hard work make this event possible. Their tireless efforts help ensure that Relay For Life of Western Tidewater continues to be successful year after year.

A very special thank you goes to our Event Chair, Kristie Fields, who has done an outstanding job leading this event for the past two years. We are deeply grateful for all that Kristie and her family have done to support Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. While Kristie will be stepping down as Event Chair this coming year, she plans to continue supporting the event through her team and by assisting the committee in other capacities.

Thank you, Kristie, for your leadership, dedication, and countless hours of service.

As we look ahead to 2027, we are seeking a new Event Chair to help lead the Relay For Life of Western Tidewater. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in serving in this role or joining our planning committee, please reach out to me at [email protected].

Well, 2026 Relay For Life of Western Tidewater is in the books and a wonderful memory!
Thanks to all our volunteers, teams, participants, sponsors, Cancer Survivors, Caregivers, everyone who prayed for us, and, oh, the list goes on 💜💜
It is truly about a community that takes up the fight against cancer and progress is being made every day. Isle of Wight and surrounding areas have always “done Relay right”!

Last night’s total came in at $56,165; an awesome accomplishment to benefit the American Cancer Society’s programs, services, and advocacy.

Today we are celebrating over 40 years of achievements of Relay For Life, which supports the American Cancer Society's efforts to end every type of cancer, including:

* Investing in major cancer breakthroughs and research. The American Cancer Society is committed to finding more — and better — ways to improve quality of life for people impacted by cancer.
* Helping people catch cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. We know that catching cancer early increases survival rates. That's why the American Cancer Society has helped deliver more than one million low or no-cost cancer screenings to those in need.
* Providing a home away from home for people with cancer and their caregivers through our Hope Lodge® communities which offer a supportive, caring environment so they can focus on their treatment.

This is just some of the work we're doing — and we're not slowing down.
