Just a friendly reminder about our meeting on Monday, June 15th.

We will begin with the Team Captain meeting at 6:00 PM, followed immediately by the committee meeting. You may join by computer or call in using the phone number and passcode provided below.

If you have not yet registered, please take a moment to do so before the virtual meeting.

American Cancer Society Awards 128 New Research Grants
ACS is investing $80.7 million in new grants to fuel innovative cancer research.

The American Cancer Society is the largest non-government, non-profit funder of cancer research in the United States, with a portfolio of over 825 active research grants covering the cancer control spectrum. These newest grantees are joining a legacy that stretches back to 1946 and includes 53 researchers who have gone on to win the Nobel Prize for their work. Anyone interested in Relay is welcome to join us this evening at 6:00.

Just a friendly reminder we have a meeting on Monday, 5-18-26

We are excited to welcome everyone to our upcoming Team Captain and Committee Meeting on Monday, May 18 at 6:00 PM.

The Team Captain meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 PM and is expected to conclude around 6:30 PM. The Committee Meeting will follow immediately afterward. If you are unable to attend, please share this information with a representative who will be present.

During the Team Captain meeting, we will cover:

• Team recruitment goals – We are encouraging each team to register at least 10 participants if possible (a survivor, family members, friends, and coworkers or church members). Our goal is to have 100 or more people at the event, and reaching 10 participants per team will help us get there.

• Fundraising & luminaria – We are asking each team member to seek a donation and aim for 10 luminaria bags per team member. This helps each participant earn a Hope Club shirt, increases luminaria at the event, and supports both team and event fundraising.

• Event details – We will review the event date, timeline, and important day‑of information.

You may join the meeting either virtually or by phone. Instructions for both options are included below.

For many people facing a cancer diagnosis, getting to treatment can be a struggle all its own.

Appointments are frequent, treatment schedules are demanding, and reliable transportation isn’t a guarantee for everyone.

That’s where the American Cancer Society Road To Recovery®​ program comes in. Through this national volunteer-driven effort, people who need a ride to cancer-related medical appointments can connect with trained drivers who provide free transportation to and from treatment.

It’s a simple service – but for someone without a reliable way of getting to their appointments it can be the difference between getting care or missing their treatment altogether.

We’re continually inspired by the people who bring this program to life, like ​​​​Suzy.

When Suzy’s mother was diagnosed with cancer, she had to travel nearly 100 miles to receive treatment. This inspired Suzy to volunteer as a Road To Recovery driver, helping others get the treatment they need while offering comfort and companionship every ride. She even keeps in touch with some of her former passengers, celebrating with them when they receive good news.

“Even on busy days, I stop and remind myself how lucky I am to be able to help.” Suzy says. She encourages more people to volunteer as drivers, emphasizing it is one of the most fulfilling volunteer experiences she’s had with the American Cancer Society.

Road To Recovery is a powerful example of American Cancer Society programs that can support people facing cancer and their families – and it’s made possible because of people like you.

Your support means that in communities across the country, people know they won’t be alone on their road to recovery and can meet each day with reassurance, connection, and a sense of community.

The average age of a colorectal cancer diagnosis in the U.S. is 66, but cases are rising in younger adults.

The recommended screening age for people at average risk is 45 years old. Staying aware and keeping up with screenings are among the best steps you can take to protect your health.
