Bloom’s Alley is BLOOMING! 🌱🌼

What a beautiful day at the Bloom’s Alley / Jonathan Street Community Garden.

Volunteers, children, neighbors, families, businesses, churches, and community partners came together to plant, build, water, teach, encourage, and pour love into this space. This is what community looks like when people show up with willing hands and open hearts.
A very special thank you to Lowe’s Home Improvement on Wesel Boulevard for providing the planters, some plants, and fencing support that helped move this project forward.
Thank you to Lovell’s for blessing the garden with 2 flats of plants, and thank you to Farm & Family for providing 65 bags of soil.
Good News Hagerstown was honored to contribute 65 bags of soil, vegetable plants, herbs for the sensory garden, a hose, shovels, plant signs, flowers, planters, and lots of love. We are grateful to be part of something much bigger than one organization.
Thank you to Councilwoman Erika Bell, Jerry Pryor, Dr. Thomas Alexander, Councilwoman Caroline Anderson, Neighborhoods 1st, Community Roots, REACH, Family Affairs Centre / Family Affair, Eliza’s House, HCV Church volunteers, and every neighbor, child, family member, volunteer, and community partner who helped make this possible.
This garden is more than plants. It is a place for children to learn, neighbors to gather, families to heal, and the community to see beauty growing right where we live.
If we missed your name, please know you are appreciated. Tag yourself or someone who helped in the comments so we can keep giving thanks where thanks is due.Bloom’s Alley is growing because Hagerstown showed up. 💚

🌸 What a beautiful community day at Valley Meadows! 🌸

Good News Hagerstown Inc. wants to say a huge THANK YOU to every volunteer, donor, and community member who helped make yesterday’s Flower Festival such a wonderful, kid-focused event.

The kids had so much fun planting, creating, eating, laughing, getting face paint, and enjoying a day where they were truly the focus.

A very special thank you to Christina Wilson for her amazing artistic face painting. She was so good that kids were lined up for hours waiting their turn — and they loved every minute of it!

Thank you to our incredible volunteers: Kris, Debi, John, Dave, Rose, Amanda, Andre, Angel, Jeff, Heavenly, Ally, Melanie, Haley, Jordan Jones, and anyone else we may have missed. Your time, kindness, patience, and hard work made the day special.

Special thanks to Sam’s Club for donating patio pots, strawberry plants, and bulbs. Thank you to Janee, JR, and David, managers at Sam’s Club, whose hearts made a real difference for these kids and families.

Thank you to Sheetz for providing food and drinks, and thank you also to Martin’s, Walmart, Weis, and Wegmans for helping support this community effort.

This is what Good News Hagerstown is all about: bringing people together, loving our neighbors, and creating moments where children feel seen, valued, and celebrated.

🌱 Nurturing Dreams, Changing Destinies.

🌱🌸 What a Week for Good News Hagerstown Inc.! 🌸🌱

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for what was accomplished this week through the Downtown Green Families Initiative and the incredible people who showed up to serve our city.
From start to finish, this week was a true picture of community, partnership, and love in action. ❤️

🌿 Tuesday, April 22 – REACH Homeless Shelter
We began the week beautifying the outdoor spaces at REACH, creating a more welcoming and peaceful environment for residents.
A HUGE thank you to Sam’s Club for sponsoring this project—providing volunteers, flowers, mulch, and plants. (Through in-kind donation & a spark grant)
Special thanks to Carlos, Janee, and Austin—we appreciate you!
And an extra special thank you to Sam’s Club for also donating additional distressed plants that will continue to be used and restored in both the REACH garden and our pollinator gardens. Nothing goes to waste—everything grows into something beautiful. 🌿

🌎 Wednesday – Earth Day on Franklin Street
We partnered with Downtown Hagerstown, City leadership, volunteers, Mayor Bill McIntire, and a City of Hagerstown police officer to plant 11 large planters along Franklin Street.
It was amazing to see our city come together to create something lasting and beautiful.

🐝🌸 Saturday, April 25 – Market Walk Pollinator Gardens
We planted 30 pollinator gardens alongside:
✔️ Downtown Hagerstown
✔️ Hagerstown Youth Council
✔️ Chesapeake Conference SDA
✔️ Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine
✔️ Dedicated Hagerstown volunteers
These gardens support bees, butterflies, and the health of our environment, while also bringing beauty to our downtown.
We also created and placed:
💜 Stones of love and encouragement
💧 Bee and butterfly water stations
Small touches that carry big meaning—for both nature and people.

🙌 Volunteer Appreciation
We could not have done this without our amazing volunteers.
A heartfelt thank you to our Hub City Vineyard family, especially:
Ellen, Kris, Sarah, Jess Angle, and all of our incredible volunteers!
Special shoutout to:
🚚 Volunteer extraodinare- Rose and her blue pickup
🌍 Gabe and his amazing international students from Broadfording Academy, who worked tirelessly all week!

This week wasn’t just about planting flowers.
It was about restoring spaces, serving people, and building something meaningful together.
We are so grateful for every person, partner, and sponsor who made this possible.
🌱 We’re just getting started.
