Every quilt tells a story—and some of those stories earned special recognition at the 2026 Hudson River Piecemakers Quilt Show!

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be highlighting some of the award-winning quilts from “Each Quilt Tells a Story” and sharing a little more about the inspiration, techniques, memories, and creativity behind each piece.

Today, we’re featuring three remarkable quilts. Take a closer look at each photo and read the story behind the stitches—you’ll quickly see why these quilts stood out.

One of the most wonderful things about quilting is that no two pieces—or their stories—are ever quite the same. From fabric choices and intricate techniques to personal meaning and countless hours of work, every quilt represents an extraordinary labor of love.

🧵 IT TAKES A GUILD! 🧵

Before the doors opened and the quilts were admired, there was an empty gym…followed by racks, tables, signs, displays, hundreds of quilts, plenty of lifting, organizing, adjusting, problem-solving—and a whole lot of teamwork.

Our Quilt Show didn’t just “appear.” It took many hands, many hours and a tremendous amount of care to transform the Hadley-Luzerne High School gym into “Each Quilt Tells a Story.”

This reel gives you a little behind-the-scenes look at the setup and just some of the work that went into creating the show.

To every member, volunteer, helper and supporter who carried, hung, labeled, arranged, decorated, organized and pitched in wherever needed—thank you. This truly was a labor of love and a wonderful example of what happens when a guild comes together.

And then…the doors opened and the magic began. ❤️

🧵 WHAT A WEEKEND! 🧵

We’re still smiling after an incredible weekend at the Hudson River Piecemakers Quilt Guild’s “Each Quilt Tells a Story” Quilt Show!

To everyone who made the trip to Lake Luzerne, walked through the doors, admired the quilts, visited our displays and Boutique, talked with our members, shared our posts, told a friend and helped spread the word — THANK YOU!

And what you saw during the show was only the finished product.

Behind every quilt were countless hours of creativity and craftsmanship…and behind the Quilt Show itself were many, many hours of planning, organizing, hauling, hanging, labeling, decorating, volunteering, promoting, helping and working together to turn an empty space into a celebration of quilting.

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to share more of the story — our award-winning quilts, the Barbara Nichols Challenge, the people behind the show, some behind-the-scenes moments and many of the beautiful quilts we haven't had a chance to share yet.

There is simply too much creativity to pack into one post!

For today, enjoy a little look back at a wonderful weekend filled with quilts, friendship and inspiration.

These award-winning quilts are only a small glimpse of the creativity, skill, and imagination on display at the Hudson River Piecemakers Quilt Show. Each piece offers its own interpretation of the challenge—and they are even more impressive in person!

Today is your final opportunity to see the full display. The show ends at 2 p.m., so make the drive to Hadley-Luzerne High School and enjoy an inspiring afternoon surrounded by beautiful quilts.

Over the past year, many of you have seen photos of colleagues in our quilt guild as I post the "Show & Tell" projects. Since I am the publicity volunteer, I'm usually photographing others and not myself. So, I thought I'd share a little about the projects I've been working on personally and why quilting has become such a special part of my life. ❤️

There is something incredibly satisfying about taking pieces of fabric and turning them into something beautiful and meaningful. Every quilt is a journey—from choosing fabrics and learning new techniques to watching it come to life on the longarm machine. It's creative, relaxing, and yes...sometimes a little challenging! 😊

But the greatest gift quilting has given me isn't just the quilts—it's the friendships.

Joining the Hudson River Piecemakers Quilt Guild has introduced me to some amazingly talented, generous, and encouraging people. They share their knowledge, cheer each other on, laugh together, and inspire one another every step of the way. I feel so fortunate to be part of this wonderful group.

What makes me even prouder is that our Guild believes quilts are about more than fabric. Through our community service projects, we've created quilts for veterans, children entering foster care, scholarships for local students, and many other charitable causes. It's amazing how something made with your hands can bring comfort, hope, and love to someone else.

Quilting has reminded me that beautiful things really are created one stitch at a time—and life is even better when you share the journey with others.

And yes...I'm a little excited! 😊 This weekend, I'll have four of my own quilts on display at our "Each Quilt Tells a Story" Quilt Show! It's both exciting and humbling to have my quilts hanging alongside the incredible work of so many talented guild members.
