Two great dedications in the Antioch for Youth & Family Discovery Garden on this overcast morning!

Climate League Outreach Director Herbert McGill and other Climate League staff and Board Members welcomed volunteers from OG&E for a tour, raised bed planting and clean up work and a sign dedication, acknowledging OG&E's donation to support the Climate League's efforts in the garden. Thank you to Mary with the Arkansas River Valley Master Gardeners for assisting!

The installation of a gorgeous sign donated by Time Striping, Inc, denoting the Antioch Discovery Garden, was celebrated by volunteers/staff from Sebastian County Conservation District, Arkansas River Valley Master Gardeners, Antioch for Youth & Family, OG&E. and the Climate League.

Together we're making the garden a visible, nourishing and welcoming space for all.

On Thursday Climate League Outreach Director Herbert McGill will welcome volunteers from OG&E to the community Discovery Garden. The OG&E volunteers will help with constructing additional raised beds and other improvements. Earlier this year, the Climate League received funds from OG&E supporting our work with the raised bed classroom, student engagement and the pollinator garden. Thank you OG&E!

🍁 Cooler temperatures are coming! If your home needs to have some cracks sealed or windows covered, our Resource Center has the free supplies you need. 🏠 We also have under door seals and money-saving light bulbs. Stop by and see us MWF 11-1 p.m. at 521 North 6th Street in the Elizabeth McGill Drop-In Center.

Our raised beds in the Antioch for Youth & Family Discovery Garden are shifting from summer to fall. Are you planting a fall garden now that temperatures cooling down? How's it going?

‼️ Our staff is very dedicated, but even they need time off! Thus, our Resource Center will be closed Thursday 10/1 through Thursday 10/8, re-opening on Friday 10/9 from 11-1 p.m.

There were many fine things about Comedy, Cheesecake and Coffee, and the cheesecake was definitely one of them! We want to thank Confectionately Yours for allowing us to pick up our order on Sunday afternoon, so that the cheesecake would be at its freshest! A shout out to Kenneth Clardy for the photos!

🎤 Sam Price: hosting Sam Price & Friends, a free stand-up comedy show (21+), Friday, Oct 2 at 8pm at Hero's in Fort Smith, AR.

🎬 UV Improv Troupe: with ARHPSS, a live screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with the original Columbia, Nell Campbell, Tuesday, Oct 20 at 7:30pm at the Robinson Center Performance Hall in Little Rock, AR.

We're very grateful to these talented Arkansans for sharing their craft with us! If it suits you, treat yourself to some laughs this October!

Lots of contagious smiles and good cheer at Sunday's Comedy, Cheesecake and Coffee FUNdraiser at Digs FS.

If you purchased a ticket, invited a friend, donated to the auction, participated in the auction, or made a donation, your generosity is going back into the community. Thank you!

Some Stats: In 2026 our Resource Center staff have:
🎯 helped 48 families apply for utility bill assistance
🤝 talked with over 100 famlies about assistance programs
🪟 distributed 190 weatherproofing/energy efficiency supplies (door sweeps, window foam tape, lightbulbs etc) including 90 pieces provided by OG&E
💚 hosted or participated in 22 community events in low-income Fort Smith neighborhoods

Our Resource Center is open MWF 11-1. We're located at 521 North 6th Street in the Elizabeth McGill Drop-In Center.
