Testing water clarity (Secchi disk readings). Cooperating with Cass County Environmental Services in taking hydro-lab readings for oxygen levels, acidity and temperature. Measuring phosphorus, chlorophyll and oxygen levels in the lake (five times a year). Participating in water quality studies such as research done by the Mississippi Headwaters Board on the Boy River and its chain of lakes. Raising beetles to control loosestrife on Poquet Lake and have had a professional conduct an aquatic plant survey of the lake. WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT
Installed a new V weir dam at the lake outlet. Building and placing loon nesting rafts, wood duck houses, and a martin house. Participating in DNR walleye stocking projects and research. Cooperating with Cass County and the Ten Mile Lake Association in installing Clemson levers for beaver control. SH O R E L I N E MA N A G EME N T

A brochure (available at the Chamber building) was printed describing these sites and volunteers conduct boat tours for interested parties. Established a funding mechanism for shoreline restoration by property owners. Submitted Birch Lake to be included as a pilot lake of the Cass County Intra-Lake reclassification project.
