HUGE Congratulations to Julie Edenborough, the 2026 Children's Champion! She was nominated for her amazing heart and her extensive ability to assist families in their journey to succeed.
We are grateful to the Guymon Chamber of Commerce for showcasing the Children's Champion Award during the Annual Banquet. Congratulations to all the individuals and businesses who were recognized and celebrated for their impact in Texas County.

We are proud to award the 2026 Children's Champion Award to Mrs. Julie Edenborough!

2026 Children’s Champion

The Children's Champion is awarded annually for the person or organization that makes it possible for children and young people to be successful: leading by example, giving their time and talents, guiding and directing, extending hope, kindness, character development, and encouragement.

The first Children’s Champion was awarded in 2022 with a commitment to honor those who sometimes go unseen for their acts of advocacy. This year’s winner is known for her compassion, grit and determination in meeting people where they are and helping them see the successes in their future.

The 2026 Children’s Champion is Julie Edenborough.

Julie has been with Guymon Public Schools for over 30 years, most recently as an Assistant Superintendent. As an educator, Julie taught junior high English, Literacy Skills, and was a Reading Specialist. In 2009, she stepped into the role of Title III Director. During that time, she ensured programs, services, and opportunities were available for all students at Guymon Public Schools. She even created a program called Caring for Tigers – this program uses community donations to provide clothing, shoes, books, tuition assistance, temporary emergency housing assistance, health services, or supplies for children in need. Beyond that, our 2026 Children’s Champion worked to implement free breakfasts and lunches to each child in Guymon Public Schools, maintaining that no child should go hungry.

Many students and their families can attest to her generous and caring heart; personally stepping up to help fill needs where others may not notice them struggling. One of many stories about Julie includes helping a family that relocated to Guymon find housing when she found the family living in a small mobile home where children were sleeping in a makeshift room with blankets as walls. She also assisted the family with furniture including a recliner as the mother was expecting a baby soon. Since that day, it was apparent that Julie was someone special.

The Board of Directors and staff of Panhandle Services for Children are proud to award the 2026 Children’s Champion to Julie Edenborough.

Make plans to attend the 2026 Children's Fall Festival on Sunday, October 11! This year's event will be at Thompson Park from 2 pm - 6 pm with all the same fun and more to do! Be sure and get your Raffle Tickets ($10 each) for amazing prizes! Raffle tickets are available the day of the event or you can purchase them prior from Kim Smith, Cat Warren, or Vanessa Carrasco.

All proceeds benefit Panhandle Services for Children and the programs we provide at no charge to the community.
