Guthrie Football Coach came to the Noon Lions Club meeting on August 18, 2017, at Stacy's Place.
Coaches are very influential in the lives of our children. It was wonderful to here the dedication of Coach speak about his Guthrie students. The words he used in his speech, would encourage our children to strive for greatness and achieve their goals. The athletic department offers space, by giving them a place to work hard and dedicate themselves. He had discussed the actions of these students working harder, because they were a younger generation coming into the sport. His power of positive words discussed, rang clear, Guthrie Coaches are inspiring these children to do great on and off the field. Winning today, will take time, but your building their foundations stronger, will be better for tomorrow.

Guthrie Noon Lions Club Adopts- A- Street

Recently members of the Guthrie Noon Lions Club completed another “clean sweep” of the city streets which they have adopted. Airport Road and portions of Division are the focal points for their quarterly trash pick up. Steve Gentling, Lion Club President, noted “This is our club’s way to help make our community cleaner and more attractive to everyone. We joined the Guthrie “Adopt – A – Street” program last year and have completed several “sweeps” of “our” streets. It is a good project for any civic club or business interested in keeping of city looking good. It is a nice mix of goodness: good camaraderie, good exercise, and good for the city.”

Lion of the day Patti Chamberlain brought a wonderful speaker Friday, October 28th. Amy Loch of Logan County Historical Society. She discussed the WPA Projects in Guthrie America. The best part was, one of our own Lion member, Kenneth Mitchell, was able to tell us some personal stories about his encounters as a child. Ms. Amy had shown images of the town and projects are viewable today that were created by the hard workers of the WPA Projects. If you enjoy learning please go to the site given. http://www.logancountyhistoricalsociety.org/research.html
