History of Hats For The Homess OK

In 1984 Ren Baer crocheted a blanket for her unborn first child. It took her the whole nine months to crochet it and she decided she would not attempt that again. In 2014 her and her husband Mike moved from Oklahoma to Arizona. And she decided to try crocheting, again. Her husband took ill and he was in a medical rehab for 10 months. She was taking care of him and crocheting. In 2015 they moved back to Oklahoma where she started Gammys Crochet Creations. She crocheted things for her family and friends. She started donating hats to chemo patients through a friend who had cancer. In 2016 & 2017, she continue to crochet a lot of items to the point she has a crochet room to store it all in, not knowing these crochet items would bless others. In 2018, she started working at a nursing home. She saw there was a group for residents to crochet. She started bringing her crochet to the group at work to show the residents. In 2019 she ended up starting the group called Crochet & Pray a her job for the residents. It grew and we were crocheting prayer purple hats for infants and donating them. In 2020 she founded Hats For The Homeless OK to donate crochet and knit hats to the homeless, infants, children, chemo patients, and veteran. Through these acts of charity there has been over 700 hats made and donated to many organizations in Guthrie, Purcell, Edmond, Oklahoma City and Stillwater, Oklahoma.
