Two great days of farm safety with some awesome 3rd graders!
Students from local schools learned about grain safety, sun safety, electrical safety, ATV safety, PTO and tractor safety, and animal safety. Covering a wide range of important topics to help them stay safe on the farm.
At the PTO and tractor safety station, students gathered around a mini farm display and put their thinking skills to work by spotting unsafe situations. Beth Bornholdt and Grace Tigges guided them through real-life scenarios, helping them recognize hazards and make safer choices.
Jim Calvert also taught PTO and tractor safety, and students had the opportunity to climb into a tractor cab to see why checking your surroundings is so important before operating equipment.
A big thank you to Guthrie County ISU Extension & Outreach for inviting us to be part of this great learning experience.
