✏️ A little classroom love goes a long way! 🍎📚

Families Helping Families Chicagoland recently awarded a $200 classroom grant to a wonderful teacher at Woodland Intemediate School in Gurnee, where she works with 4th and 5th grade special education students.

And look what arrived today! Pencils, sensory and fidget supplies, colorful storage, and an LED sign that will soon brighten up the classroom.

Her message to us said it all: “Thank you so much for shopping my list! I cannot wait to get the LED sign hung on the wall! The pencils definitely come in handy because they seem to disappear! Thanks again!”

This is exactly why Families Helping Families Chicagoland created our Teacher Grant Program. Teachers give so much to their students, and we love being able to give a little something back.

❤️ WE NEED YOUR HELP! ❤️

We have an immediate need for a single mom in Glenview and her kindergarten-aged daughter.

They are currently $2,800 behind on rent, but thankfully, the landlord is willing to work with her. We would love to come together as a community and help her get caught up.

She is working hard to get back on her feet and return to work, but childcare challenges have made it difficult to find a job that works with her daughter’s school schedule.

Our goal is $2,800. Can you help make it happen? Whether you can give $25, $50, $100 or whatever is comfortable for you, every dollar gets us closer to helping this mom keep a stable home for her daughter.

💔 A FAMILY NEEDS US RIGHT NOW.

We recently received a heartbreaking letter from an advocate at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago about a family that is facing more than anyone should have to bear.

A single mother and her four children lost the stability of their home after severe storms damaged it in June. They are currently staying with a family friend while mom desperately works to find a job and permanent housing.

This mother has already overcome unimaginable challenges, including a traumatic brain injury and serious heart problems. Now, with limited income and no renters’ insurance, she is trying to care for her children while rebuilding their lives.

One of her children is a patient at Lurie Children’s, making safe, stable housing especially important.

Right now, they need basic necessities. This is where our community can make a difference.

Immediate Need - Please Help...

Some stories stop you in your tracks, and this is one of them. 💔

A local mom of three has faced more in the last few months than anyone should have to endure.

In February, she discovered a lump in her breast and was forced to stop working. She underwent surgery in April, but just as she began recovering, tragedy struck again when a fire started in her laundry room, destroying most of her family's belongings.

Now, after moving into a new apartment and trying to rebuild from scratch, the lump has returned and her health is declining. Unable to work, she's fallen behind on her car payments and fears losing the one thing that allows her to get to medical appointments and care for her children.

To make matters even harder, the family lost their beds in the fire and have been sleeping on blankets on the floor.

This is where our Families Helping Families Chicagoland community can make a difference. Every dollar donated will help keep this family's car from being repossessed, provide beds for the children, and help furnish their new home with the essentials they desperately need.
