First Trail Work Tuesday of the season tomorrow, 4-7pm on Evan's Loop at Hartmans! We'll be parked at the cottonwood parking area at the bottom of Sea of Sage/Broken Shovel to continue work on Evan's Loop (Sea of Sage, Broken Shovel, Lost Dog). Work includes widening the trail corridor and improving drainage. If you arrive late, grab a tool, sign the waiver and march up Sea of Sage or Broken Shovel until you find us. Bring all the gear for mixed weather and something warm to hangout after for grilling. Be there!

We're psyched to have Owen of Tulip Trails West and our very own Avery Galson leading a major reconstruction of Hurrakain trail at the Hartman Rocks base area. The trail will be closed this week, beginning Monday, 4/6, as work gets underway (the Swoosh is still good to go). The recent rains couldn't have come at a better time!

Hartman's 2.0 Open House March, 26 4:30-6pm @ the Gunnison Library.

Join Gunnison Trails’ board and staff Thursday, March 26 at the Gunnison Library to learn about and provide feedback on a new trail proposal for Hartman Rocks we're calling Hartman’s 2.0. This project aims to improve connectivity and expand the trail experience for all users. Attendees will be able to view maps of the proposed trail alignments and submit comments that will help shape the final design. Feedback gathered during the open house will be used to refine the trail proposal before it moves into the next phase of planning.

Hartman Rocks OPENS today at noon! This ties the earliest opening on record of March 12, 2018, at least since mud season closures have been in place. Trails and roads south of Powerline Rd. remain closed to bikes and motorized use to protect the Gunnison sage grouse. Enchanted Forest remains closed due to snow, and expect snow and mud on Josho's, Ring D**e, V-Drop and the north side of Top of the World. We're all buzzing for local dirt - be good humans out there, respect your fellow trail users and honor all wildlife-related trail closures. Shoutout to El Jefe for all the shoveling this week to get the trails in prime shape!

A friendly reminder that the entire Signal Peak trail system on BLM land is closed to bikes until May 1. This includes the purple shaded area on the map. This shaded area has an additional closure to ALL humans beginning March 15 until May 15. A little confusing, we know. To simplify, all trails in Signal Peak on BLM are closed to bikes Jan. 1 - April 30. Trails on campus (Contour, Canal, Cemetery, Zig Zag, Flowtrack, Old Car, Chin Ups) are open to bikes and are currently dry, so there's a little over 9 miles of dirt for your late winter enjoyment. We're keeping eyes on conditions at Hartmans, and all signs point to an earlier than average opening.
