What a beautiful evening at Rock House Ranch!

Last week, guests gathered at the stunning Rock House Ranch on Ohio Creek Road for an evening of connection, conversation, and learning about healthcare in our mountain community.

We were honored to hear from two of Gunnison Valley Health’s newest specialists, board-certified cardiologist Dr. Keith Davis and board-certified oncologist Dr. Karen LoRusso. Guests learned how high altitude can impact heart health, gained practical wellness tips for mountain living, and heard more about how GVH supports part-time residents and visitors who need oncology care while spending time in the Gunnison Valley.

A heartfelt thank you to the Osborne family for graciously hosting us, Chef Tim Egelhoff of Timberline Chef Services & Catering for the delicious appetizers and dinner, and Horsefeather Mobile Bar for the handcrafted cocktails.

Step into an evening of inspired giving to sustain rural healthcare and ensure exceptional care close to home. The Gunnison Valley Health Foundation’s sixth annual gala, Unmasking Compassion, will be an evening of inspiring music, fine food, creative cocktails and an exciting live auction. Join us on Friday, August 7 in Crested Butte at the Center for the Arts.

Attire inspired by a Victorian masquerade, including a mask, is encouraged but optional. Masks will be available for those who need one.

Earlier this week, our Gunnison team traveled to Boulder for the Katz Amsterdam convening. Being in a room full of people fighting for mental and behavioral health in mountain communities was inspiring and motivating. The convening brought together advocates, and friends who understand the unique challenges our communities face because they’re living them too.

A huge thank you to the Katz Amsterdam Foundation for bringing us all together. Creating space for connection is its own form of care. The conversations, the stories, and the relationships we deepened will carry us forward. Grateful for this network and everyone in it.

About: Drew's compelling film shares his deeply personal journey from battling depression to discovering purpose, strength, and resilience through his goal of running the Leadville Trail 100 ultramarathon.

Discussion: Following the screening, stay for a special talk and Q&A with Drew, where he’ll reflect on mental health, perseverance, and the courage to keep moving forward.

Hosted at Western, in partnership with CB State of Mind and GVH Foundation, this is an opportunity to come together, spark meaningful conversation, and remember that we’re better together when it comes to mental health!
