The STEPS Coalition is a non-profit that started in 2006 to give voice to low to moderate income communities in the restoration process following Hurricane Katrina and has continued its work through the BP oil spill of 2010 and COVID-19 today. Started in 2006 from the Hurricane Katrina restoration process, STEPS drew its name from the devastation caused by Katrina, namely from many residences des

troyed to the point where the only thing left standing was the steps. The STEPS Coalition has proudly continued working to give a voice to the under-represented community, including through the 2010 BP oil spill and the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.
