Hello Everyone,
I never envisioned that this job, this year, would entail so many emails to all the residents. I'm so sorry to disturb your email...but I do know quite a few people are wondering what is next for our road.
For those of you who have been out, you know the conditions. At 8:15 p.m. tonight (MON) I have just come from downtown Guilford. I needed to go check in on our office on the Green, and we got some dinner at Centros.
From our end of Long Hill, down to the road that goes to the High School is just fine. 1 1/2 lanes, mostly down to the asphalt. From there it deteriorates drastically and as we drove down towards Route 1...it became a nightmare.
I also turned on the new cutoff that goes by the School Bus Barn. No school buses have been plowed out...they are all, 100% of them, stuck in very deep snow. From Route 1 to the Green everything is fantastic.
I took Route 77 to Route 80 on my way home and it is very clear. Anyone needing to get to town on Tuesday can use Route 80 to 77 and then to town and you'll be just fine. I'd stay off Long Hill for at least 2 more days.
When I came back to Sage Hollow, I did drive down to the end of the road. I agree with many of you that the road has deteriorated since Coastal was here yesterday. Of course I know we're all appreciative that they plowed us before the other 39 accounts and they did get us a swath in case someone really needed out.
Some of you indicated the oil truck that came down Sage Hollow today was not kind to the work Jeff had done. And I know the UPS truck was down the road today. I can tell you I am due an oil delivery on Thursday. I don't think we can help all of that...but to the extent that you can control trucks on the road...for now, please do what you can. to limit truck traffic. I am aware, personally, that while JJ Sullivan is on the road Thursday...that will render the road impassible. I just don't know how we can do better.
I will call Jeff tomorrow morning and ask for a pass down our road to take care of the loose snow on the road and perhaps to give us another foot on each side. If you don't hear from me, you will know I was successful. If I find out we are going to have to wait a few days, I certainly will let you know and I'll call the town to see if we can get on a list for a plow to visit the road. I'll report to you as soon as I can.
Thank you for your kind words over the last few days and your support. I wish I had more control over the situation...and I'll speak with Jeff tomorrow while he's out and about and try to get another pass on the road with his truck, at least.
If anyone is desperate for anything, let me know. Otherwise, stay safe and stay warm.
Randy
